Most of his songs are high octane an are designed to pump one up or be humurous in some way.  This is the first one I have heard that I would call haunting.

Yeah, it's a d*ck move, but from Beren's perspective as a Templar, Cullen has a duty to his oath he took when he became a Templar.  He's not exactly too understanding about the whole situation as he see's Cullen's attempt to quit taking lyrium as abandoning his Templar brothers and sisters.

I actually think Cullen's epilogue if he's on lyrium is the most depressing epilogue I've ever read in the DA franchise. And I've read them all
