Think of it this way, Al. I'd be just as annoyed if they did this to Cerberus in ME2. It was a specific organization with a specific purpose. It didn't try to be everything. Bioware just cared to get a specific story in, for better or worse. What I see with DAI is more product than a story.. something meant to be consumed from whatever direction you come from. And something that fellates you, the player, no matter what angle you come from.
When I say I am "DA" fan, I mean I was a fan of all the world building they set up. It had none of this all encompassing neutral powerbase like the Inquisiton, except for the Wardens (who still stayed out of most things). It had many factions with limited preferences. But Bioware got some bug up their ass to be as inclusive as possible. And it dillutes various factions in the process.
And people think only the elves got screwed. Lots of things did. Just more subtly.

Heh. Kinda like that one Order from that one thing.
But I am not sure how the general uh...roles of the Inquisition...points to BioWare trying to be more 'inclusive'.

Inclusive as far story goes. I don't mean in the Tumblr sense. I mean no barriers to what kind of characters you want to make or who you recruit. It's just a group that stands for nothing... yet has everything. It tries not to alienate anyone.
edit: And yet Dorian insists it's a Chantry group.

Ahhh. Well I would think that would again by up to the Inquisitor's though. Again Kara did not recruit Vivi and I think most companions are optional. I thought Dorian's point too, was that it would be seen as a Chantry group...mainly by Tevinter.

I think he meant more than that. Even he believes you're the Herald. It's why he joins.

Possibly but in the scene, if its the scene I am thinking of, he clearly mentions that again what the Inquisitor says does not matter. Tevinter will view them as a puppet of the Southern Chantry.

Fair enough. And he's right.
But the thing is..... it is that anyways. The game tries to be open, but in the end, it's still all about the Chantry. Going against the grain isn't going to change too much.
And I think it would have been better if they just owned it more and tried to give the game more focus. The DA2 treatment, if you will. Instead of the DAO treatment.

*Looks at his game icons down his side dock and just cannot decide what the hell to fire up...*
Skyrim for Ingen Jegger, my brutish Nord?
DAI for Beren, the greatest Templar ever?
ME3 to continue Ovarina, Sentinel Garrus lover?
While I'm pondering that, check this out. I had no idea I'd taken so much video of Verana, my Qunari mage Inquisitor.

ETA: @Miles: *giggles* I, of course, meant the harmonica that Foley gave you!
