Once my net decides it actually is able to load up imgur I can show a Pic! until then...

*kicks imgur*

I'll help! I know I have a baseball bat around here somewhere. We'll show silly imgur the error of it's ways with just a tiny dose of violence.

Oh my gosh, I should totally use it next time someone posts a thread just to brag about how serious a gamer they are, or how massive their I.Q. is or something!

That would be funny. Still, nothing beats the classic Cersei eye roll ;)

Gah. Someone posts Holdin' Out for a Hero and now I'm going to be on a Jim Steinman kick for the rest of the night.

Assassin's Creed (I'm playing the third one) is immersive.  I meant to play about an hour, I ended up playing nearly 2.5....

When you say "the third one" which one do you mean?

(Because of course they named the fifth game in the series Assassin's Creed 3).

For most of the last console generation I claimed AC as my favorite franchise of the generation. I loved AC1, AC2, Brotherhood, and Revelations. But AC3 I couldn't stand. It was buggy and broken and lacking in the grandiose cities which had made the previous games so fun for me (colonial America simply didn't have enough verticality yet). I skipped Rogue because it reminded me of AC3. I skipped Black Flag because I like neither pirates nor naval combat, which is a shame because by all accounts Black Flag is the most fun game in the series. The reviews of Unity made me avoid it like the guillotine. Reviews of Syndicate suggest that the series may be starting to become playable again, but I no longer truly care.

I think they should just do Altair again.. with all that they've learned since.

To me, that's the best setting for an assassin game. I thought that the series was going to be..umm.. edgier Prince of Persia or something. But it went all over the place.

No. Of creating player characters that do not come out deformed.

I dunno about that

It's tricky, to be honest. I taught Assassin's Creed in my seminar on Media & Terrorism. The Nizari were a real terrorist organization, with a real base in Masyaf (present-day Syria). It still blows my mind that one of the most popular franchises in the Western world is inspired by a real, radical Muslim terrorist sect, and involves conflict with a real, sometimes extremist Christian organization. The fact that a mainstream game features the assassination of a pope is... impressive.

All that is to say, I think returning to the franchise's roots, and especially its most Muslim, most terroristic lead, might be harder to do in a post-ISIS world than it was in 2007 (especially since ISIS now occupies the actual territory in which the Nizari Ismaili operated).

Brazil would be my ideal setting and not just because the martial artist in me (and my inner 12 year old) want to see hidden foot blades but because Capoeira has a really fascinating history that I think would work well with the series.

Those Mobile Strike commercials are so stupid.

And it's sad that mobile games have the money to push like this.. Welcome to the future of gaming.

It's why Kojima was booted too.

Ah, that might work. Wasn't it part of their earlier revolt strategies?

The Phillpines has an equally cool story with knife fighting..

Hmmmm there is a mod that makes all spiders in game invisible. I'm certainly considering it, so I don't need to skip as much of the storm coast. Hm..

There's a joke in here about how when everyone else saw spiders, Sera saw "nothing."

Hey, if you do that, be damned sure to save before you ask the Storm Coast requisitions lady for a requisition.  I doubt the mod takes into account blocking the requisition that requires spider ichor.  Alternatively, just don't ask her for a requisition. :)  I always ask each region for one each because I figure they deserve that much.

I don't bother doing requisitions. Builds up too much power that I don't need, lol.

And you still get their drops. It just shades them out of existance.

Originally it was a way for slaves to defend themselves since they didn't have access to weapons but it became that as slaves began forming their own communities (Quilombos) and they began sharing their knowledge amongst each other in order to repel Portuguese troops.
Someone famously opined that "defeating a quilombo was harder than repelling Dutch invaders".

I should point out I'm no expert on Capoeira, I just take an interest in the history of martial arts from all over the world.

Top: Ballistic weave ftw.
