I don't think I've ever seen a non-laptop keybpard without an integral numpad. Though I sure have seen separate numpads, so I guess it's... possible?

Don't tell me you have to buy the numpad separately?

:D  Thanks Dazzle, but the whole reason I went with the tenkeyless one was to have room for my wide-load mouse pad to the right of the keyboard.  Naw, it just looks like I won't be using fly cam in DAI.

I'm just saying that it's an option for keyboards that don't have them.

You can't put it to the left or the other side of your mouse pad?

ARGH!  Looking into fly cam for Inquisition.

Sure hope it doesn't HAVE to be numpad keys.  I don't use a keyboard with the extended numpad, which of course means no numlock key either.

Don't think you have a controller lying around, but controller makes flycam so much easier and you can still pick dialogue options easily during cut scenes with the keyboard. :/

Huh. Looks weird without the numpad. I love my old... Genius? Hell, I have no idea, but it's perfect and it works.

I would be massively pissed off if I bought a keyboard, and have to buy half the keys separately... It would be like buying an Xbox One console, and it coming without a headset. Oh wait! They already did that! F*ck you, Microsoft!

I suppose I could wire it up to the top of my desk somewhere... not sure if that is worth the effort just for a fly cam, though.  There is no room on my slide-out keyboard tray.  Between my keyboard and this 1-foot wide mousepad, it's full.

I do actually have a XBOX 360 wireless PC controller that I tried to use on a few games.  Never could get the hang of controllers, though, and always reverted right back to mouse/keyboard.  IIRC, though, the one time I did try it with DAI, as soon as DAI detected it, I thought it disabled the keyboard/mouse controls?  Could be thinking of a different game here.  I tried it in several.

No, it's just an option.   I can see the appeal for someone to have a not-so-wide keyboard (as I do) and yet still want numpad functionality when they need it.  Also, headset?

A lot of people who are lefthanded use it. And it's an ergonomical solution as well.

Obviously you wouldn't buy one, because it's not of use to you.

I'm left handed. I guess I just got used to it being attached. I rarely even see a seperate num pad.

I suggest using the controller then. You have to go into DAI settings in order for it to change from KBM to controller, it won't change automatically for you. And if it does, shoot it. You also don't have to plug the controller in until you want to use flycam, or don't plug the controller in until DAI is loaded. Flycam will automatically be controlled with a controller when one is plugged in.

*Offers to platonically love you, if that is permissible*  I'll try it later and see if that pans out.

@Poods.  It hit me you were probably talking about a headset to speak to people during Multi-player.  Apologies, that didn't even occur to me when I saw that.  Still, as soon as it did occur, I couldn't resist... :D

I accept platonic love. Common sense thing and reminder here, but make sure you have the drivers for the controller installed. I don't doubt that you do already as you've mentioned trying controller with other games, but a lot of people miss that step and wonder why the controller won't work. :D

And Fade out.

Controllers should be easier to set up on PC. This doesn't sound bad, but half of the games I see need mods.

I still don't quite understand why you don't MP at all. I mean, that bit of DAMP was fun...

It's true that Windows auto-installs correct drivers in most cases, so that's where these people are coming from.

Usually, even I, as a computer-oriented high school graduate, just plug something in if it's an USB and give it a try, only searching for drivers myself if there is something wrong/no response from the device.

I think I'll just stick with Al.

Hardly anyone goes by that anymore.
