What do you guys think of the rumor that Gaider went to Obsidian? They still seem to kick it old school.
I think he'd be happy there if he did. No EA...but same style of game.

I don't like it when people save the Collector base.
I got an hour to kill, so if anyone is up for a trip to Hong Kong for some Sleeping Dogs:

I do this every time
You are a dirty person.
BioWare seems good, I've never known how I feel about EA other than I buy their stock and drop it when presales hit on a certain title or reviews...I'll play it safe on ME:A...presales;)
I hope it's great tho!
I really need to finish this nightmare play thru...I stopped my mojo...I need tequila...no...I need Patron...Silver

I think a lot of his disappointment starts with how they handled DA2. He was vocal about it. Even after DAI came out. Then if you look at what the other team planned for ME3, but couldn't because of restrictive schedules, then you see another game that could have been better. Bioware themselves seem to have good ideas most of the time. I just don't think they have as much freedom or time as they need.
I also think EA is used to cranking out FIFAs and Maddens annually. Maybe they don't mean bad by it.. maybe they're still getting used to adjusting for an RPG studio. But it's been almost decade since they purchased Bioware now.
I should be writing...so that means I'll game tonight while the wife is at work and write tomorrow so it looks like I work occasionally.
Luckily, I produce enough quality words quickly enough to pass inspection...plot check...dialogue check...ready to roll with notes...Skipping paranormal realm for
RPG
must go war room...
Must finish nightmare play through.
Is it me or is it harder on the xbox one than the 360?
Missed you DQ. Cheers.
*not cool enough to drop the mic...*
*stumbles away from the stage lighting confused as to who turned it on...and head for seat in back to run board and game while waiting on cues*

Well they did destroy DA2 by cutting a year off it's time and demanding a third act in what, a month? Plus (I know I've said it before), but Act I of Inquisition reads exactly like Hawke. When Cory is revealed, if it was Hawke it's a great reveal, as cookie cutter Inquisitor out of nowhere it's nothing.
When you plot out a series in installments out do the basic plot structure for the series typically in advance. Inquisition would have already been written when 2 was released.
Inquisition would have been a better game, from a writing POV, if they would have left it as Hawke. From a gamer POV, I like the race choices too, but they aren't fleshed out even with EA giving BioWare a year extension on the game for race creation.
If I were lead writer and this was my baby, I would have been pissed that they forced my to trash some really good writing. Lose a year here, turn a game to crap, extend here, but you can't make Inquisition what it should have been because you can't fix what you lost in 2.
Eh-hem. I might look at plot structure and dialogue too much. Occupational hazard.

See, I didn't even know that about DA2's original development. He was more vocal at the canceled expansion. At least at the time.
But yeah...
I think I'll follow what he does.. if he does anything. He's always entertained me.
I could see that too.
TBH, I'm new to gaming. I never gamed until I got injured 4 years ago. I had no idea the gaming industry wrote intricate plot structures for things. I was mostly a writer, but I did some VO work for gaming occasionally, but I just acted on the side. It was just a skill set to keep the actor in mind when I wrote things for industry.
Half the time you're just matching lip flaps back then.
After I got hurt, I downloaded KOTOR for my iPad, hit a plot reversal then bought everything BioWare made.
Glad I never wrote for the gaming industry. Now I just get to play.
If I were Gaider, I'd be pissed too.
Fandoms don't truly cross over except in sci-fi and fantasy a little, entertainment industry is totally different, but writing is writing.
I can see what should have happened. I can see what is there, and there's enough background out there that tells me what happened. The rest I can see in the plot development.
EA screwed the gamers a bit, 99 percent will never know what they missed. Gaider had a great set up for raw structure.
I'm going to quit being so nerdy, but I hope he's happy wherever he lands, and I hope he develops a new game series.
I hope DA isn't his swan song, I hope it was his mid career thing.
I mean, DRAGONS and stuff...
drink, be merry...
I'll put me cerebral back in my pocket and save that for work...
this stuff is supposed to be fun
sorry for the nerd.
hugs

That's cool. You're still be pretty savvy, new gamer or not.
I don't always have an eye for plot structure, but I used to act a little too. I think that still helps me question plot structure.. but more from a character perspective. I don't like things to be arbitrary.. I need characters with believable motivation.
I could see her doing dirty cop stuff, like in urban areas or something.
I don't know what you mean by Spectre material though. To me, Saren is Spectre material.
You mean like my Ulysses Shepard, the earthborn who, right in front of a Turian cop, shot a gang member he used to run with? Turian cop approved. ![]()
All you who save Ash over Kaidan always get on my special I Don't Like Your Game Choices list. and I pout over here in the corner and continue drinking.
That's okay. I'll still keep you supplied. You know why? Cuz your best sis ever! ![]()
*slides a drink over to sis*

FemShem! Good to see you
You need to stick around more.

I respect actors a great deal. It's not my bag. I was a writer and academic. Okay, I really loved academia, but no one in it knew how to work the business side, so you just ha dot leave and go work professionally for a few *cough* decades.
But forcing myself to keep up with acting taught me a great deal of respect for performers. I was never going to be brilliant. I got okay reviews from local rags, but I never had that thing that truly brilliant driven stage actors have. If you're going to write their dialogue, I think you best spend a bit of time on the boards which requires a bit of training, but it's just my opinion.
I write whatever pays nowadays.
Still have a great deal of respect for actors though. I've known peeps who have worked in the industry solid for 40 or 50 years consistently. You'd know them on sight, character actors and such, and they make squat, but they love what they do.

Well if you're offering drinks. Sorry, got way sick. Too sick to game, believe it or not. That's too sick. That's a nice warm little drinky there tho;)
Off to fake kill things.
Why am I okay on nightmare for DA, but I can't
f$5king get past this one part on ME1 on normal picking up Liara. I swear Xbox One is cursed or something.
Off to Thedas. I'll try and swing by more often. It's good to see DQ is still here!!!!
So, I saved Ash and sacrificed Kaidan. Why? It's very simple: Ash was the one guarding the nuke, and the nuke was The Mission. I decided it was more important to protect The Mission than to risk it saving someone who was involved in a secondary objective. It wasn't personal.

Aww, you're the best Bro ever *hugs and takes off with cider*

I could have sworn she was off in some control tower, not setting up the bomb, in my game. Kaidan was with the bomb/nuke thing for me.
i'm guessing this is a story choice and they can swap areas based on where you choose to send them and I forgot.

You can control that during the scene when you're talking with Kirahhe about the mission. I honestly cannot remember if you choose which one stays with the bomb, or which one goes with Kirahhe, but whichever you pick, the one you don't pick gets the other half of that mission. Clear as mud, eh? ![]()
ETA: Interesting sidenote. If the one who is with the bomb is the one you leave behind, you get the scene where they are defending the bomb. Otherwise, you get no final scene for them. Just the Normandy hauling butt away from the planet.

right so, for some reason I always end up with Kaidan with the bomb, Ashley with Kiraa-guy so that makes sense on a more logical point that I go back to kaidan. really doesn't help that both Ashley and Kaidan tell me to go for the other ![]()
Whenever I leave Kaiden behind, I go with the "Fight hard, die proud" line, but I got all choked up with Ash that time. "I'm sorry, Ash" or whatever it was. I really love the "Fight hard, die proud" line.
ETA: ToP! Ever since I started getting to know folks in the DQ, this line has always made me think of Donk...

I like how DQ goes through this cycle of games being played by a bunch of us at once, I see we're back to ME's for the third time bahaha
I'm still waiting for ME2 to pop up on Xbox BC. I guess it's good to be distracted with DA atm.
I haven't even played FO4.. but I guess that's good too. Maybe there will be mods by the time I'm ready.
