I don't know about the history, but hope you have fun.. and the cake doesn't get stolen.

I'm curious.. I don't know many Aussie bands, but there's one I like that sounds similar. The Drones. Have you heard them?

I'll remember this for July 4th :P.  If we are even around.  Or Israel day.  Or...does England have an equivalent?

Despite considering myself 60% chick I really am not one hundred percent comfortable with the name 'Foleyna/ Folerina.'  But I was joking. :P

Though I will admit being called Foleyna is ten times better then being called Stiffler.

The answer to this kinda depends on where in Australia you live. In some parts of Australia they are a huge problem, other parts you'll rarely if ever see them. But overall. yes.

 <3  HAPPY BIRTHDAY, AUSTRALIA, YOU GLORIOUS EX-PENAL COLONY!!  <3

Hmm, looks like I missed the beach stories by a smidge, but what the hell, I'll share.

I'm a strong swimmer, no concerns there, but the movie Jaws scarred me as a kid seeing it at the drive-in.  I have a very irrational, overblown fear of sharks.  It was 1989 or 90 and I was at Onslow Beach in North Carolina.  This sandbar extended a good 250-300 feet or so out into the ocean, so there I was standing only waist deep in the Atlantic Ocean damned near a football field's length away from the beach.  One of my a-hole buddies suddenly screams, "FIN!" and starts frantically heading towards shore.  I -FLIP THE FECK OUT- and start heading back myself.  Pass my friend in short order and make in back to the beach in amazing time considering I was wading the whole way.  Look back, and those jackasses are laughing their butts off.

I haven't done more than walk at the edge of the ocean since that day, maybe enough to let the surf hit my ankles. Quarter of a century since that incident, and I've been to a couple of lovely beaches, but don't go in anymore.  My "deep water" swimming is limited to Lake of the Ozarks.

F-ing sharks.  Someday, I'll have my revenge.

Nick Cave yup, The Vines, Silverchair, Midnight Oil, Powderfinger..

Always amuses me how many artists I grew up listening to started off in Australia when that was also the time most music on radios and topping our charts was the so-called -in / cool- American or Spanish (songs in Spanglish - mix of English and Spanish) artists.

Luckily, I've never run across sharks. The worst I've seen are barracudas.

Careful, don't let your need for revenge turn into obssession because we all know how horrible that is...though not from personal experience.
