More often than not, what they get you for is getting words passed the censor. The post may not be bad at all, but one asterisk in place of a letter can let them slap you with a warning point. The post that gave me my warning post was not bad, but I did use an asterisk and got slapped for it.

So what you are saying is that if i had used for instance a ! instead of the asterisk i would not have gotten my warning point ?

Not necessarily. You still used a different character to get a word passed the censor which could still land you a warning point.

Talking about censoring words reminds me always of the german Sims Forum.

It's like this forum together on one site with the english forum. So the same censor filtering is/was at work.

 

So great when the german "damit" (d a m i t in the case it get's censored here too ) gets censored, just because it looks like that one bad english word   (it means "thereby") The german community went around the censor with putting periods into the word, like da.mit.
