Ah Bann Teagan, at last. I challenge you to a duel of swords for disrespecting my honor. If not for my honor than for dishonoring the royal court for your atrocious custom you are wearing.
I figure that's got to be the Ferelden version of the Nutcracker look, right? Has to be the stupid costume the diplomats force you to wear when you represent Ferelden.
Like I've said, I haven't played Trespasser, but I heard Teagan was a jerk. I wonder if it was too hard for them to make different versions of him. It makes sense if he had a chip on his shoulder, if all he ever experienced from "heroes" was a Warden who abandoned Redcliffe. But how many people actually play that way? I find it hard personally.
From the perspective of a player with a properly heroic Warden, I understand Teagan's stance completely. If somehow the HoF had been Inquisitor, he could say "yeah, I know the Hero Of Ferelden from back in the Blight, I know I can trust the Warden not to invade Ferelden with their private army". But he doesn't know the Inquisitor personally at all, so all he has to go on is rumour and Inky's actions - plus those dubious Orlesian connections. In that context it makes perfect sense for him (and Ferelden) to distrust the Inquisition.
For me, there's one moment where I would have dearly loved to have the opportunity for my Inky to speak up, and that's when Teagan says something to the effect of "...and the Inquisition needs to stop thinking of itself as the solution to every problem!" I wanted to be able to say something like "Where have you been for the last five years? Or even the last few days? We closed the Breach, defeated the forces of a Darkspawn Magister, resolved the Mage-Templar war, settled the Orlesian civil war, protected everyone in Thedas from terrible foes and saved every ruler from here to Minrathous from a horrible flame-y death. Do you think any of you would still be here without us?"
