Started another game. What is with DAI, it just won't leave me alone.
This time I'm going to romance Solas, really I am. I'm going to ignore Bull, Sera and Cullen. Some how.

Ignoring Sera is like pushing poop uphill.

I've tried. I really have. I just can't. If I ever play it again.. I know not to even bother trying.

Last two games I was going to try different romances, and yet I ended up with Sera. And to think she used to annoy the hell out of me.

Gosh, y'all really can't stick to your roleplay goals, can you? I committed myself to 6 playthroughs before I returned to Bull. :P

There are just some types of characters I cannot roleplay. For instance, I made a goody goody two shoe believer in Andraste male dwarf for Cass once.. And it just bored me. To top it all off the romance made me wanna barf. though funnily enough I appreciate the uh.. Emotional depth to it. I think it was that point where straight after sex she mentions her ex lover. And the poetry, not a fan of poetry. The character itself that I played I found was boring.

I never tried any other romance. I did start on Dorian's with a male Qunari, who was gonna be my arsehole nutjob Inquisitor. But couldn't go through with that either. I wanted to see what it was like making Cullen stay on lyrium and sacrificing the Chargers cause I never tried that before.

I've made a billion different inquisitors that I never liked. The only one I liked is my dwarf.

Cass romance....was not my thing. That poetry. Need a drink thing about it. I'm not knocking anyone that liked it, so don't get your panties in a twist.

All fair points, I just have a need to see all the content from every angle, it seems, lol.

My elf turned away from his dalish beliefs and fell for Cass' passion and religious pride, fell in with the chantry. I loved that romance because it was so different than the characters I usually play.

But I also look forward to romancing Cass again with a snarky, non-religious dragon hunter who has nothing but disdain for the chantry.

As for Dorian, I had the best drama filled relationship with my Prince Aubrey. Spoiled, selfish, power-hungry, yet Dorian saw something redeemable in him.

I'd've been cringing if I wasn't marveling over how ridiculous it all was with my Inquisitor wearing that swimsuit.

That sinking feeling when you read new info about a new game you were excited about and you now just KNOW its going to disappoint hard.

Hypothetical question while all of you sit with your drinks. Dead beat parent in a Dalish clan. Possible? How would that work?

I don't think the concept would really exist. Everyone works for the clan and the clan provides for everyone so even if a parent wouldn't be involved in a childs life much (impossible to be entirely out of the picture due to the close-knit nature of the clans) they would still be providing for the child.

It's entirely possible. Just because the clan sticks together does not mean one can't be a deadbeat parent.

How would that work, though? There's no way to NOT support your child in a clan other than leaving the Dalish entirely. Issues like childcare would be a communal affair as well i'd imagine and if you draw childcare duty in a system like that then that is what you will do.

My thoughts too. Twas just an idea my brain threw out to me while going through an Inquisitor background.

It may be a communal job to raise the children, but each Elf would still have a mother and father. If either one of those don't pull their weight and instead leave the job of childcare to the rest, then that parent would become a "deadbeat". They aren't doing the job of mother/father. They might as well not be in the picture.

Communal childcare is a thing in societies like the Dalish. It comes from pure necessity as most people of reproductive age are also the most able bodied and thus are needed on their full time (sunup till sundown) jobs.  A parent might be distant to their children in that situation but that wouldnt make them a 'deadbeat' as they would still provide for them and serve their function as part of the bigger whole.

I have elves that enjoy their elf root. Especially that one kid.

I loved that scene a little too much.

Possibly mostly because of my Inquisitor's whacky grin.
