I got a lot of combat shotguns so I tend to rotate them.
My one specifically for deathclaws does extra damage to animals.

That might do it. Lol.  I mean I just know that Deathclaws are super hard to kill and do a **** ton of damage so any shot gun blast to the face probably has to either one shot it or just blow it back enough where you can get away, otherwise you are toast.

Nah, Fallout, video game shotguns in general really, are OP as ****.
About the only problem with them is the spread and even then there are workarounds.

Yeeeeeaaah....let me introduce you to the only weapon that can one-shot a (non legendary) Deathclaw:

 

My preferred solution so far has been taking a good hit of psychojet, spin up the minigun and keep the trigger down till empty.
