I was just about to ask what kind of treat a macaroon is, actually. I've heard of them but that's it^^;

I've seen one in Stargate SG-1 and assumed they were some southern delecacy in the United States but given their obvious international appeal I am now beginning to think that idea as suspect.

Actually macaron and macaroon are not the same.

Macarons are french sweets made with ground almonds, egg whites, sugar and cream or jam as a filling, these are the colored ones.

 

 

Macaroons are like a biscuit made with almonds and coconut, but they don't have a filling. These are from Italy, I think.

I don't say it enough but I really am rather pleased and gotten used to any small differences already of Kara 'B' Trevelyan.

They both look odd to me but then again they both kind of resemble some mystery dessert a neighbor who makes the worst dishes sent us before. They even somehow made terrible chocolate covered nuts. How on earth can someone manage to do that? It's chocolate and nuts!

 

But I'm rambling.

Geese are the work of the devil, mean little *******. Only decent geese I've ever met were a bunch of free loaders and never bothered to call back. So they're evil and lack proper manners too.

Macarons are so good, but can be pretty expensive - like 2-3$ a cookie around here. If you don't have a bakery or patisserie nearby that sells them, you can sometimes find boxes of them in the freezer case at the store. The outer part of the cookie is crisp, and melts in your mouth, and the center has flavored filling like something stiffer than jelly, but less sweet than frosting, depending on the flavor and the manufacturer. Nom nom nom

 

I like the coconut ones, but I'd choose the former over the latter.
