Anyway I thought the reason they went all "Yay headcanon!!" is cause people got shitty being forced into Hawke's role.

I think this was a strength for Bioware though. I don't need them to be Bethesda.. or some kind of mutant form of Bethesda. The worst thing was DA2 doing poorly and everyone and their mom being so hyped on Skyrim that Bioware got the wrong message.

And I wouldn't say they tried to be Bethesda. After playing SWTOR (their MMO) for some time, I think they took a lot from that when they developed DAI.

I detected some potential bitching about to happen and I don't want to have to rescue this thread again after being locked, though I'm not just directing it at you. That is why I threatened MileyChicken.

Look, personally, I don't think the sun shines out of DAI's arse. It has many flaws and I enjoyed it the least out of the series. DA2 is actually my favourite.

 

It isn't entirely bad though. For instance, I think it has some amazing characters, some of the best written. However, the story was poorly written, Corypheus is lame, combat was crap and the side quests eventually started feeling like a chore.

 

I did love the crafting. Thought the armour and CC was a joke, however.

 

Imo, what makes DAI is the lore that surrounds it, and Solas. The real villain and by far the most interesting because despite his intentions he's got a girly horde of Lavellans in love with him, and even I find it hard to dislike him now.

I agree on the characters.. I've said that often. Just not the Inquisitor. And I like the art design especially. Or rather, their concepts have always been good. It's just that DAI finally fleshed it out.

 

I like Solas as a character, but I never liked him within the game. Or anything with Spirits.
