Talking to Cullen and the girl Templar right in Haven. That's not the dialogue of someone raised in the Chantry to be a Templar. It's the dialogue of a generic noob player (not character) who knows nothing.

I'd rather just avoid it. The nice thing I said is that you helped with that.

This requires further...investigation.  lol.  But yeah.  If its optional, IE an investagation option that the character I role play them as knowing the answer.  I rarely click on it.  Happened just the other day, saw an...oh yeah it was talking with BlackWall and he was talking about the Grand Tourney and the option was...Grand Tourney?  And I thought to myself: Wait Kara is an Marcher, an Noble Marcher none the less.  I'm not asking that.  And I didn't  I mean she is maladjusted but not that much.

Standing across Cullen.. arguing with another Templar. Forgot her name. You also can rescue her when Haven gets attacked.

^I had to do a double take because I swear you had typed my name. Okay, I know Lysette (seriously had to think very hard to put an s instead of an n). I only ever saw her wandering around Skyhold.

If you can rescue her, I've saved her ass a fair few times, but I don't recall hearing any templar arguments. I never paid any attention to the idle chatter of NPCs in Haven or Skyhold. I'll catch a few words maybe, but then I've already moved off to wherever I was going and the voices stop.

That's definitely one way of going about it. But no, it's not always Investigative. Not with the girl, I think.

Ah, anyways found the post in question and thank you. :) I seem to have a vague recollection of what you were talking about. :P  Of course I had little to do to feed the hype but to create several head canons...which then with BioWare releasing more info I had to change, Kara Trevelyan ended up being very different from her initial thoughts I had about the character.

I switched my concept from Ostwick vigilante to Bro Genetivi on steroids. Somehow you helped me come up with it. I don't remember. It's better though. :P

I don't ever think about the kind of character I'm going to RP until I actually play the game. No initial thoughts beyond, "I'm totally playing a dude elf archer".

I'd rather it all be in the game itself. That's why I like Hawke.

I like the mage here. I got my whole story just from in-game stuff. Like Vivienne's story about your mentor being killed. I ran with that and thought my character was like Obi-Wan, going after Anakin in some big showdown. Or whoever he was. Jowan #2.

Original Kara was an Orphan whose parents had died so she was left on the streets of Orlais.  Granted they were noble but they died as a result of the Game.  So she fell into an order of assassins.  Who decided to go dragon hunting in the vicinity of the Conclave...and THEN they said she would be a Marcher.  So, I basically kept most of the details actually.  Her parents were visiting Orlais...or something.  AND THEN they said her family was very much alive thank you very much so once again she became a Marcher, who lived at home, was old but not too old.  Kinda ignorant.  But really hated her family and especially her mom for reasons we should all know well.

Heh based my mage on Obi too.

Meh I like give and take from the game.  They paint the background, the story, the setting, the other characters, but everything involved with my character should be mine to play with and create.  Though I also don't mind them even filling in a few details for the Protag.  Loved Hawke to death.

Now I'm thinking of O-Ren from Kill Bill..

Assassin is a hard one for me to work with. That was my initial vigilante.

*in the voice of Kara Trevelyan* Why is Assassin hard to work with?

That is give and take what I pointed out. I'm taking things and blowing them up. I'm just saying with the other humans, it's more on my end (especially since I made the character older). I would rather just been the Merc or Smuggler if I'm gonna be open ended about it.

And I suppose early Kara was more like Arya.  Minus the creepyness of the Faceless men.

Hawke never felt like my character, just as Shepard never felt like mine. They already had a history and I was taking control of them for a relatively short part of their life. I still play the hell out of ME though so something like that doesn't make me enjoy the game any less.

There's that too. I kind of thought of Arya for female Cousland. Just older.

Kara was 26 so she is young...ish.  But on the flip side I made her a bit ignorant in world events because she spent so much time shiring her family duties and just walking around the forests around Ostwick rather then doing anything in relation to the politics or proper manners.  Though she does really like the stories she has heard about Ferelden and the Grey Wardens.

It's like Mad Libs to me. I think they're partly mine.

I even used default Earthborn/Shep.. but I projected a lot of new things into it. Like he was a red sand dealer, whose girl OD'ed. He changed his life and joined the military. I also used to run with gangs myself, and I knew guys like Finch trying to creep back in my life. So I projected some of my own hate into that.

I was thinking... I approach things like an actor. You guys seem to approach better as writers.

I'm just the fussy thespian complaining "What's my motivation?!" But doesn't want to write the script himself.

I get joy in creating ****.  Especially characters and ****.  Heh I am either good at the nitty gritty or the huge over arching, not so good at the inbetween.  I suck with settings.  But yeah.  Love this ****.
