I'm kind of torn on the whole palm tree thing.  I mean, they're definitely very pretty trees, but they only exist  in places that I personally would rather <<< insert whatever unpleasant thing just really chaps your hide >>> than live around.  Too hot in the hot tub, ya know??  It's bad enough my  beloved Missouri sucks donkey bits for 1/3rd of the year with heat and humidity...

That's a giant fantasy fern of some sort, not a palm, it has leaflets. Look the fronds. Look at them.

 

No wonder it does so well indoors. I bet he talks to it.
