DA2? First time through I think was 40-45 hours tops. Only bought Legacy DLC as I felt it would have some importance in the future and didn't want to waste money on a game I didn't really like. So Tallis and Sebastian can go suck a lemon for all I care. :D

I didn't realize I had such an influence. :D

B-b-but Tallis let Alexender have his hot Elven Sex.

Sebastian can suck a lemon, but I didn't mind Tallis. And that's saying something... I hate the Qunari :P

Who? You also make the mistake of thinking I care about that. I don't.

Same, can't I kill Seb instead of Anders.

Well, I still kill Anders :P

I just don't use Sebastian. Partly because I settled on mages... he just doesn't make much sense there for me.

The only reason I use him, is to get rivalry.

In my last DA2 PT I was 100% friends with everyone, except Sebastian.

...tho I'm not sure about Carver's stats anymore, we were friends, that I do know...

Never found the point in Sebastian given my Rogue was an Archer and I took Varric most places and Alex the mage Hawke also took Varric with him most places.

I might've kept Anders alive if they did this in DAI:

Now there was a dissapointment.  I wanted to meet Anders so badly in DA I especially with my Hawke romancing him.  Ooh that would have been awesome if you could put him on trial for what happened at Kirkwall.

Yeah, it might've been fun to play polar opposites to Hawke or something. I wanted to do that with the Warden too, but there isn't much there.

As it is, it feels like my Quizzy is taking up the mantle.

Mantle?

You never heard that saying? Kind of like passing the baton, etc..

I think it comes from the bible originally (prophet Elijah's story), but it's used often.

Ah so that is what you meant. Lol.  Thought there was more to it.  Especially since you do not like DA I. :P

You got me wrong. I like some of it. :)

I like Dragon Age itself, more like. I stick with it for that. I dislike a lot of DAI specifics. I also just think they had a much better idea in the works and things went off the rails. This Anders thing is a good example.. but it's the tip of the iceberg :P

Probably the critical reception to DA 2 and the fact that DA I had to be developed for more then one console is the only off the rails I can imagine.

That's bigger than you think. Rethinking DA2 made them shift the elfy stuff to this game.

That is not what I meant but I am actually curious about what you mean because I had not heard any of...that.  I actually really like DA 2 in that regard because its very much...fits into the five act narrative...at least in some regards.  DA O was an introduction but sometimes you have to take a step back to take a step forward.  DA 2 was that step back, really focusing on one city and one group of characters which then opened the world back up again.

The arbor wilds and Flemeth stuff was gonna be DA2's expansion.. among other things.

edit: I agree with your other point btw.. about DA2's place in the story.

Interesting. I did not know that.  This does make me wonder: What they would ahve done for DA I instead, and I was thinking the other day a big theme of DA has been 'recovering lost history' (one of the big reasons the games are so near and dear to my heart) but yet DA 2 really did not have any big revelations or things like that.  Aside from some hints in the Deep Roads expedition...meh actually no that does fit.

Recovering lost history is a big theme, but only from one perspective really. The elves. Specifically Dalish. And maybe mages. The City Elves are more about finding a future. Be it in the Chantry or the Qun. While the human story kicked off with the Present... with politics (Orlais/Ferelden).

But as it is, I play my human Inquisitor along those lines. He's kind of like the human counterpart to my dalish elf.

Not neccessarily, remember the Temple of Sacred Ashes?  Remember Cory's revelation in Legacy about the Black City and his further revelation in DA I? Remember all the stuff we learned about the Dwarves in Descent and then all the hints throughout the rest of DA I?  Sure DA I focused on the Elves but I highly predict that future games will do similar revelations of true history for all the races.  I imagine DA 4 is going to do for the Tevinter/ Qunari what DA I did for the Dwarves/ Elves.  And we could get some good Dwarven revelation from DA 4 too.  Mind you I doubt we will get no Elven content, especially if the big bad will be the Dread Wolf, but it should be put on the back burner.  This is frickin Tevinter we are talking about.

I haven't played Descent :P

You're right about the Temple though... that was on my mind, but it was too late to edit. I suppose this is the one human thing you can put in that category.. the Chantry.

In any case, I figured DAI would have plenty of the "Past" stuff, but more of the "Present" tense issues too. It seemed like they were building up the war idea more at the time. I think Solas still had a role in the game though.. but he didn't have the one he did now. It changed when they added extra races.

It would have been interesting if the war could have felt more like a war, reacting and interacting forces with one another.  Moves and counter moves.  The Inquisition feeling more like a military force.  I just wonder if BioWare could have pulled it off given that is not really there thing.  I just wish we had more resource management too, Inquisition strength could have increased or decreased depending on what you used it for.
