Okay combat in the Witcher makes literally zero sense. Stupid 'too fast' warning.
Strangely enough - I actually enjoyed that. It was frustrating at times, no doubt, but there was something that was challenging enough to keep me on my toes...instead of just frantic clicking. I loved that freaking game when I played it...quite a long time ago now. Hmmm...Nostalgia.
See I play for story; I've always said combat is just an obstacle to the next chapter of the story. So I want combat to go as fast as possible.Strangely enough - I actually enjoyed that. Edit: Okay, after reading tutorialsit makes a little more sense, but it still seems to take forever.
I'm having issues with it myself. After playing both 2 and 3, this just doesn't feel right to me.
Yeah, I've found if you're not on the right fighting stance or style then your attacks pretty much do nothing.I'm having issues with it myself. After playing both 2 and 3, this just doesn't feel right to me.

Tell Ramsmeat I said "Hi!" He is the first character to pop up in my head when I think of the first game.

I could imagine. I played them as they were released - and felt that 2 and 3 streamlined the combat a little more. I'm indifferent to whether that is a good thing or not as I enjoyed all three games, including the combat designs.
Yeah, the first game is damn weird with its fighting "style". And all dodging and parrying is done for you based on the character's skill at these things. Compared to the later games (and most others) where you have to parry and dodge 'manually' it's really strange and it took me ages to get used to.
My Mom's watching her series again, with the main chara who has the german VA of Meredith.
She just met the (head)master of a school (boarding school?) who's first name is Vivienne....
My DA mind went ofc straight to /Okay, Meredith and Vivienne meet.......omg/

Witcher 1 just isn't good. But 2 and 3 are a cool testament to what they had in them...once they had better resources.
Strangely, the first game uses DA's old engine.
So now that I know what I'm doing in The Witcher, I'm starting to enjoy it much more. I like all the cinematic breaks, but I don't think I'm much past the intro, had to take a break this afternoon and likely won't play till tomorrow evening.
