I'll refrain from the ****** comment I was about to make.
Refrain? Why? I don't mind any jokes. ![]()
It only looks bad now because the damn bridge cracked. And I'm constrained atm to get it fixed.

What I am about to say may sound treasonous to some.
I had a go at playing gwent and I didn't get it. It doesn't make sense to me. I don't like it.

Edited: Once you learn the rules, it is a lot of fun (imo).
Ugh, just noticed a grammar error I made yesterday night.
I shouldn't write on my fanfic when I'm tired.

Fic update: Not a single word has been written.
I also bought vanilla ice cream so I can make Dr Pepper floats. There are very few things I enjoy about summer, [Cherry] Dr Pepper floats are one of them.

The rules outlined in the initial tutorial should be enough, shouldn't they? Such as, I don't get why stopping when you think you're going to win will ever work when your opponent still has more cards and they just keep playing them.

I had trouble my first couple of games, but it's quite simple when you do figure it out.
Do you think Thedas has its own version of pinochle? Whatever, it's going in the fic. Defo not 'lore friendly' this thing.

Is there some amazing trick to it or something?

tl;dr
tl;dr
Also:
Decoy is handy too if you hold off until the end of the first round. Play a small amount of good cards, get your score high - that will force your opponent to play more cards to beat your score. I then decoy my two best cards and pass. Their score is higher, so they pass, but they have less cards and I have more. So even if they saved their Hero cards - I can out-smart the system. Doesn't work all the time though - and probably only against the AI.
There are many tricks to be learned - but none I learned through the tutorial. Experience trumps tutorial. ![]()
It's ok Rel, you're not alone. I don't like it much myself.
It's not that I don't get it, I know how to play fine, I just don't like it.
It wasn't for you
Doesn't prevent it from being tl;dr.
That's it! I'm having you executed
I suck at explaining stuff like this but I will give it a go.
Spoiler
I dunno if that helps or not![]()
Yeah, I tried with the first two there and didn't get anywhere. They had better cards. I spose I just need to try with other people and see how it goes?
I don't have much patience/interest in card/board games IRL either to be fair. Too much complexity bores me... and I play computer and tabletop RPGs!

Well, this show got crazy. Turns out Fassbender is playing Guy Fawkes and it's about his Gunpowder plot.
The one time Catholics thought they could be Jihadi terrorists.
And the King forced some dude to give him a ******. I doubt that was accurate.

I'm on page two, I hope I get them out of Amestris by page 3...errr...maybe page 4, Greed's still unconscious.

I have no idea how long mine will be (huehuehue). Definitely going to label it as tl;dr though. My problem right now is I have about five different beginnings and I can't decide which one to use. I need my glorious spinning wheel of decision.

Oh I don't know how long my fic is gonna be either (I never do), all I know is how/with which scene I want to end this chapter and that's when the group arrives in Xing.
Can't be that long, they just have to cross a desert.
Okay, Rel. Do not be afraid of losing the first round in Gwent. Put down a few expendable cards, like your Spies and maybe some lone ones that don't have buffs on them, but don't try to win it. You're just going to waste cards which you'll need for the next two rounds. If you do happen to win it though, that's great, but again, don't try to do it, unless you feel like you should (maybe they pass and with one card you can win the round, then go ahead and do it). If you do it right, they should have less cards than you going into the second round.
After the first round, just go all out. Use your expendable cards first, again. Even if it is a strength 10 card, if you have two Blue Stripes Commando's which are strength 4 but have a buff that doubles their strength should you have two or more on the board at the same time, save them until later. I always put down the cards that buff last. If they throw a scorch down, you don't want to lose your best cards.
If they pass in the second round (they should have exhausted their hand), you have to make sure you have something to play in the next round (unless you won the first round).
Also:
Speak to every merchant you come across, and every innkeeper. They will most likely play gwent with you, and if you win, you will get a new card. Always do this. The more cards you earn, the better your decks will become. You can build them to fit to your playstyle.
That feeling of coming home is almost as good as the vacation.
To me anyways.
Am I the only one that hasn't left the beach yet?
Update: There are words. And drinks. Mostly words. Words with drinks.
