I just confused myself while writing on my fic.   (more I'm rereading and changing some stuff that bothers me)

 

Does anyone have a good mnemonic about how to distinguish big and large?  (normally I have no problems, there are just some instances where I can't decide which word would be better)

Cause LEO is not being helpful.... 

 

 

The sentence in question

 

with bigger:

Turning his attention back to Greed, Ling decided to do something bold and carefully removed another, bigger piece of graphite, just to be met with the sight of a human-looking face.

 

with larger:

In the original sentence there was no adjective in that place, it just felt, like it was missing one.

Well, in this case your balls is irrelevant.

And just to avoid any misunderstanding, I'm not trying to imply that you don't know it

I would imagine my balls being irrelevant for the moment... You should finish whatever art you have in progress (that's what you were originally talking about ,right) - take a sip of Vodka for courage if your own Silverite stones aren't enough!

 

 

And @Gi: I'd say larger, though my "feel" for the language leaves a lot to be desired, not being a native speaker.

I think 'larger' carries more weight to it. Comparing the two, I would say that larger is heavier where as bigger just denotes size. (size does not necessarily mean that the larger it is, the heavier it is) If you are seeking to to draw attention to that one, I would go with 'larger' over bigger. If not, if it is a throw away line, go with 'bigger'.

Big ist alles was im weiten Sinne sehr hoch und breit ist, alles sehr sehr fettes. Large geht in die höhe, aufwärts!
