Lies. You were more like
Only if there are tentacles, too. If I'm going full kinktomato, there better be a little of everything.

Ooh exciting.Lies. You were more like
Best non combat experience going. There are puzzles.. and a couple of "stealth" missions though.Still, I soldiered on. I may have used a guide a couple of times..
I really think they did a poor job with the beginning, mostly just with the Hinterlands. They front loaded the Hinterlands and IMO, it was way too much at the start. Yes, you only need 4 power to then move on, but I might as well go over there and over there. Oh, and there's one over there and this one just popped up, etc. The Hinterlands trap can cause people to get bored and lose interest or tire of doing those quests (again, I know they are optional, but I must do them all!). There's a reason that with one of the patches your companions will actually make a comment about moving on to Val Royeaux. BioWare shouldn't've had to do that. You don't realize just how many quests there are in the Hinterlands until you are helping write a guide for the game and have to write them all out. There are way more in the Hinterlands than any other zone. It's ridiculous.
So much was crammed into that first zone a lot of the other ones are pretty empty in comparison. Sorry, it's just, ugh, Hinterlands. *drink for every time I typed Hinterlands*
Sure I get it could be boring for new players but really in the end though the best way to do that is to constantly cycle between the zones. Sure I get it...but on the flip side BioWare came up with a way to naturally incorporate a 'tutorial zone' into the game without it becoming too...tutorially...IE it didn't have to tell you what to do every other second with immersion breaking screen prompts. You could do everything in the game in Haven/ Hinterlands, and now introducing a player to the Dragon Age world for the first time with Inquisition I appreciate the fact all the more because they don't have the same familiarty with the game and the combat like I do with the previous two games. I virtually jumped right in. But they do not know the difference between bows and daggers. So, a soft transition into the game was perfect.
I know what they tried to do with the zone and I still think they went overboard throwing so much at the player. The best piece of advice I can give to a new person playing the game, "GET OUT OF THE HINTERLANDS!"
I hate cycling between zones, tbh. Let me clear out on area and move one without too much backtracking, please.
I've since found a way to hit and clear out all the zones with very little backtracking.
where are those, btw? I'm not aware of them and I would like to go.
I understand not wanting the politics here, but I do implore everyone to be active and not just ignore these events. Probably doesn't need to be said, but just in case.
Drinkquistion has a private group here on the forums. I'm kinda loath to give the url after certain...incidents.

Wow.
I mean sure if it were Origins I'd agree since the zones were so linear but in Inqusition I rarely back tracked even when I was cycling. Though I suppose that was a matter of feeling more then fact.

If mine is going to scrub out today I'm going to punch a... a... thing!
I had a dream where Dorian appeared last night. And the new season of Sherlock. Which played in that house from the Resident Evil demo. In which I was also having toast with butter with a friend and her dad. Makes all sense. *manic coffee drinking* ![]()
I love the Hinterlands.

Some zones have a higher level area that players may have to wait to go back to after leveling up a little bit. Especially on Nightmare. Once I've played a game a few times I develop a system to do it as fast as possible. Note: I consider backtracking any time I leave said zone to return again. I hate backtracking almost as much as I hate cut scenes you can't skip. Dirty unskippable cut scenes. /drink

I woke up still bitter.

Booo.
*back to killing Poonari in Trespasser*
Took out some of my bitterness on Hinterlands dragon. She went down faster than expected. Forgot how much damage an Assassin can do--that leaping shot stealth upgrade is amazing. And Dorian needs to learn that standing in fire is not a good idea.
I hate that. Hit with fireball, stand in the flames.

Too bad Kara does not use Leaping Shot.
Just finished the Deep Roads part. Sera loves to Leaping Shot her way down those cliffs. ![]()
As an Assassin, Kara would benefit from it. I find it a requirement for archer assassins now. Leaping shot yourself into stealth and you can stay in stealth for as long as you want. It can also replace Stealth and free you up for another ability. I'm going to switch out stealth for throwing knives.Too bad Kara does not use Leaping Shot.
Sera needs to l2leapingshot

Not a bad idea just leaping shot bugs me as an ability. The one ability I find to be too...magical...for lack of a better word.
Shame because it really is one of the best archer abilities. There's a reason Varric can leaping shot a dragon to death in ten seconds. ![]()

Also against Kara's head canon, I keep it for Sera.
When it comes to abilities, I don't do the head canon thing. They are a game mechanic and I'm going to use them how I see fit for combat, not story.

I know, usually I'm the same, leaping shot is the only exception.
As I said, it's a shame because it really is one of the best archer abilities. Any archer suffers from not having it. But to each their own.
LOL "The undead are endless! We should head to the castle!" Pfffff no, they aren't. See? We just killed them all in less than a minute.

you did?
And here I was, thinking they actually were endless - i.e. kept regenerating. Oh well, it appears you can still learn something new about this game (certainly immersion-killing stuffLOL "The undead are endless! We should head to the castle!" Pfffff no, they aren't. See? Happy to help kill the immersion.
I used leaping shot until other abilities became more important and I didn't have enough slots left for it anymore.
