Whoa. Would you look...

Anyway, I finished the first Witcher. It actually picked up towards the end, and wasn't that much of a fetchquest. Though massive running around was STILL involved and STILL annoying, the events and general pace kept it tolerable.

Now on to more fetchquesting, Geralt!

That face speaks to me.  It says  "Do I really have to take Solas with me on my next foray out into the wilds?  I feel a headache coming on."

Alright, the first Witcher is kind of poor. The second one, however, at least in the opening battle, is showing far more promise, including game mechanics.

It's a definite improvement, but I liked the first one for what it was, at the time e it was made.

Chloe and Max went on the roadtrip they planned on.

I sat and considered which choice to take for about five minutes. I guess the other choice is the allegedly "more right" one, and certainly looks to be the one the development favour... but.... Chloe, man. Just... Chloe. Whatever else, my first choice was her.

I still find fault with the ending choices. It's as if they wipe out everything you've done throughout the previous four episodes. Those choices never mattered.

For example, Kate.

I felt really, really guilty leaving Warren and Kate behind.

I didn't feel so guilty about Warren but I did with Kate and Chloe's mother. Also step-father to some degree. He wasn't a bad guy. Just went about things the wrong way.

Warren was so sweet to Max though, and totally in love with her and for me she was developing feelings for him too...

I felt bad for everyone, but my first thoughts went to Warren.

Playing the witcher while also binge watching Supernatural has a weird kind of symmetry to it....Geralt would have been badass as a Winchester uncle or something

Also, another thing that still bugs me.

Chaos theory, I understand, but how the hell does an action one person makes create a giant bloody hurricane?

Its not actually one person. Its 10,000 people. Everything is interwoven and cumulative.

So yes, your one action might cause a hurricane, but thats because its building on top of a bunch of other individual actions.

One person's choice makes a difference....because EVERY person's choice makes some kind of difference, impact. Even lack of action creates consequences.

so by removing that last person, that final piece to the cumulative puzzle, it becomes maybe just a strong windstorm or something, and never crosses the the threshold into tornado...

so technically you could remove any of the 10,000 factors that caused it, it just happens that she's the one you have control over

or something...

Mmm... yummy...

My theory is that it not only aged poorly - it didn't age at all.

Add that on top of inexperienced team, and you got a nightmare of a sort.

A friend bought me Witcher 2 (silly... I told him I have the cash...) and WHOOSH. The Origins-2 treatment is absolutely reversed with the Witcher.

But a hurricane? By my understanding, it is impossible for a human being or even a group of human beings to bring about a natural disaster like an earthquake, tsunami or hurricane. It simply doesn't make sense why any action other than nature doing what it wants to do, would cause that.

In my opinion, the hurricane and the final choice were pretty poor. The game might simply have been better if they didn't include the hurricane and just had it revolve around the other thing.

Generally time travel that causes consistency paradoxes make more sense when the outcome is a wormhole, not a tornado. But essentially the idea is that every time you time travel you cause a rip or some type of disturbance in the space/time continuum fabric.

So it's not the choice altering that's causing the natural disaster to occur, but the actual act of jumping time is messing with the make-up of the natural world.

My choice was as simple as it was at the end of Trespasser. It was never, ever going to be Chloe - like it won't ever be Solas. So sad - but in a heartbeat I knew.

For me it was because I had gone through so much to keep on saving Chloe. I just couldn't let her die. Normally I can make the hard decisions, but not this time.

I'd guess all that twisting of the timelines caused the tornadosaurus - every repeat, every restart, every fix and undo.

Exactly. You can view it as time travel being like a little seam ripper.

Each rewind on its own is no big deal, just a rip of a stitch here and there, but if you get a bunch of rips in the same cloth, it starts to cause forces to act strangely.

Well climate change can actually cause snowfall, tornadoes and animal death. So I feel like her time-travel was the catalyst for increased global warming in this reality.

As for the eclipse and double-moon, that feels more sci-fi to me. But it could possibly be...maybe explained by wormhole or blackhole theories?

The major closed his eyes and laid one hand on his chin. While he thought about the question for a moment, his blond lock of hair bounced in the wind.
