Is that a serious question?

Yes. It was. No need to answer now though. Figured it out.

Still don't know why this day is special. No matter.

Coffee for me, because it's only 10am. I'm not awake yet.

If I was ever in a video game, I'd be the first person dead... or that lucky SoB that survives right to the end without doing a thing.

I'd be.... Sutherland. Yes.

Potentially good, if I can unlock my potential. And if someone makes the wrong decision, because I'd hardly be in charge, I'd end up scrubbing floors.

That's exactly like asking me why 28th October is important.

Why is the 28th important?

I'm not knowledgable in the special days across the world.

Not knowledgeable, and clearly ignorant about what people say. I mentioned this day several times now, and if you could be bothered to give a damn, you would search your memory.

4th of July has been mentioned a few times by our over-the-sea friends, and I can easily tell you that the 4th of July, 1776 is when the Declaration of Independence was signed, and the United States of America officially came to exist.

As for the 28th of October, as you may remember, the First World War was coming to an end in November 1911, specifically the Armistice was signed on the 11th Nov. The entire war being lost sparked the wish of many countries under Habsburg rule to become free and independent. This sparked the nations of Jugoslavia (the only Communist country to not join the Eastern Bloc, as I recall), the second Poland republic (together with territory gained from the German Empire) and namely Czechoslovakia, which had been formed by the historical lands of the Czech Crown ("Země Koruny České", Bohemia, Moravia and a part of Silesia), Slovakia and the Subcarpathian Rus. To be sold down river by Chamberlain and Daladier twenty years later, might I add.

The first president, Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk, is often regarded similarly to George Washington in the US, and even I refer to him as "Father Masaryk". He married an American, hence the middle name.

An interesting point is that President Wilson's Fourteen Points had a direct impact on the dissolution of Austro-Hungary, and thus creation of the First Republic. I thought that might be worth mentioning, considering the 4th of July is upon us.

As for similar dates that come to mind and are related to the UK of Great Britain and Northern Ireland - The UK was not properly invaded in over a thousand years, despite Hitler's Nazi Germany wish to do so, and Operation Seelöwe (Sea Lion) has never occured. I do, however, recall the Viking state of Danelaw in the 10th century, whose expansion has been stopped by the unification made by Alfred the Great, King of Wessex and later reconquered.

Another year of interest to you might be 1066, but as for Harald Hardrada and William of Normandy, I'll just see if you know at least one of these names. In William's case, his later title may suffice.

Pretty sure he wasn't asking for a history lesson. I know you've made mention of Oct 28th a number of times, but did I know what was so special about that day? No. I don't expect those who do not live in the same country as me to know about specific holidays or special dates.

Time for a freedom shot before going to the cold Emprise du Lion.

You're right. I can't be bothered to give a damn. Numbers and dates don't sit with me. I don't remember them. They go in one ear and out the other. I apologise if my ignorance hurts you, but as you've pointed out, I don't give a damn.

A little advice. If you expect people to be nice to you, practice what you preach. Don't be rude to other people. Or at least, if you are rude, don't cry about it when people treat you that way

He himself said he just couldn't give a damn about what is important to the people around here. I could be bothered to remember a date. Even Roy, who is known for not caring, remembers that 28th October is SOMEHOW important to me.

Well, this is embarrassing. The intent was to go to the Lion and do all that fun stuff. What actually happened was exploring Din'an Hanin, taking a trip to Valence, and then spending the rest of my time mixing the perfect shade of yellow for Arty's scarf. Go freedom. *drink*

I googled this and the pictures that come up - I can't even tell if they're actual commercial stuff or made up by people to look weird. I'm glad they don't use this.. thing in the commercials over here lol.

Obvious solution.  Take refuge in Dairy Queen!  She'll protect you with her awesome freeze magic.  Her parfait pummelings are legendary.

It's still incredibly American, too, so there's that.
