I followed you on tumblr Gilli. ![]()
My tumblr is sort of a mess, it's just like a spastic bunch of stuff random geekery and maybe some Bioware stuff or whatever, but I kinda sorta use it-ish.
Twitter has the character limit thing, Reddit is too kind of.. I don't know... I feel like I'm going into the High School sports team locker room or something there's always that "here we go talk about sexxxxxxx and DIRTY THINGS" vibe which is like... mhm....
I kind of hovered around to the VSN (Vroom social network) sometimes because that one is fairly nifty. http://vroomvroom.freeforums.net/
Maybe I'll get my first warning for saying this, but Bioware sucks for closing the forums. I've been around here since Baldur's Gate was released. Bioware has taken a nose dive ever since the Evil Empire bought them out and then the founders "retired". Closing the forums is equal to them taking a big sh*t on their fan base.
As a seasoned warning point getter, you have to do worse than that. =-)
I vaguely remember their forums circa 2003/2004, somewhere around NWN, so pacifistic and just kind of mellow...
Honestly though? I think being on tumblr... in fact I alluded to this in a post somewhere... that I think it's kind of empowering because here on BSN you see only the same few people were opinions whereas tumblr is more diverse, some are probably diverse in a less interesting way but I've been like wow! You know that is a cool Dragon Age thing over there, etc.
Ahem, actually there's a few other sites I've been on as well that well frankly exploded my brain, with the rather overwhelming array of points of view.

Hey cool
Oh same, I post/reblogg stuff about nearly everything I like. (I need to retag some of my personal tags tho, #me, #my fanfics etc are just too general
)
Yeah. I don't know much about Reddit, that place looks like someone tried to make a forum, but forgot half of it. ![]()

I think with Reddit it really is just like "Oh yeah! Share your dark and DIRTY SIDE now that we're" it might not even be sexual stuff just anything like "Have you ever slept on the job" or "Did you ever lie to someone" or just all that sort of stuff like your being "bad" now.
Tumblr I feel like you come across crazier stuff and it's just there no one cares lol ![]()
Plus it feels to me honestly more outragey than tumblr surprisingly enough... lots of moral preening and posturing.
Well I know you have that awesome breakdown of the culture of Switzerland so there's that! ![]()
To use an anime comparison I think Reddit is sort of like Lucky Star, tumblr is more FMA. ![]()
The only other thing I like as much as tumblr is possibly just YT, but YT has a lot of content restrictions, either in fact or indirectly through YT comments (this issue discusses race and nationalism in an objective and interesting, alternative way) but then it gets peppered or derailed with negative comments or kind of official YT positions, or the hegemony of the "youtube/vine star" collective which is basically like twitterizing long term video formats and content. Like, if you notice lots of popular stars use quick cuts every 10 seconds or so in between discrete comments, so it's basically creating the mirage of long from commentary but is essentially a continuation of twitteritis.
Vine basically just dispenses with the pretense.
Plus I mean YT is basically just copyright infringement 24/7, there's tons of sharing on tumblr but I feel like it's less willy nilly or overt about it. All those agonizing posts about personal identity struggles and emotional trauma and triggering sometimes get picked at for various reasons but there nothing if not original.
It's still a good source for interviews or information though, and I'd totally watch a Straykat history channel (I was just making that up I have no idea where straykat is and such
)
So tumblr is kind of the better social media site, although currently YT has more information and interesting things to come across, IMHO.
There's also more basic facts that I was already in contact with a couple other DA/Bio fans I met via this site from some time ago.

Hahah! LOL that was perfect thanks for illustrating Gilli ![]()
I think I'm not gonna post my rant.
I'll keep the WIP I made in a .txt file, but meh. ![]()
I'd rather write on my fanfic, but my brain somehow doesn't want to form nice sentences. ![]()

It's a half-finished rant and I lost my train of thought, so I'll let it rest ![]()
I wished I could rant like this

but I'm more like this

^
Yeah I can be pretty bad at ranting too.
I go through some phases that last like.. 12 hrs...

it was an approximate number xD
*rolls cider barrel up to her table*

You know I think I finally kind of understand better... like....
Bioware was a pretty unique, intense kind of thing, I mean it still is, I think their identity changed from sort of the really crazy kind of aggressive Dragon Age 2, ME3 ending sort of stuff into more of like a... well not conventional ever, but more like snarky comic persona and stuff.
Which I like! Honest!
I miss the old thing, but I think that's why you have all these changes the past few years and such, they transitioned from that kind of super intense sort of thing into more just kind of comicy and stuff I think.
It's kind of akin to like FF9 vs FFX-2 or something, a lot of people have reverence for FF9 and are really happy with it, but some people like FFX-2 just as much and I mean hey FFX-2 is kinda neat I played it like everyone else. ![]()
Modern Bioware probably isn't quite as... direct? They just made clear they prefer to kind of communicate by sort of the kind of tumblr/reddit/instagram kind of haberdashery.
Which is a bit chaotic, perhaps, but like the old World of Warcraft forums which are still there I mean Blizzard developers and stuff pretty much never interacted on those. Over there, it was a blessing that they interacted via twitter and stuff (including one popular developer, Ghostcrawler)
Hm, FFX AMV anyone?
and then after that nothing upsets me for months.
it was an approximate number xD
Wowza Bowza!
Edit: Oh or Kingdom Hearts??
*stumbles in* Planning out official novels and watching Star Trek. How is everyone else doing this evening? Oh I see...
Quite right, quite right.
Quite right, quite right.
Chip chip cheerio.
I remember something else that needs saving, lynroy! whenever you wander in again... In the Inquisitor Corner section of the group, I haven't been there in a while but there were some awesome write ups about people's characters in there. and the art work section - too many talented artists in our little mini-comuunity.
