I hate this "thing" thing, where everyone, or a very large group of people fall into doing the exact same thing because of some social status... Just f*cking grow up already!

Yep. Hive-mind mentality, all do the same thing.
Social media expresses it well.. like that "planking" phase. Bunch of mindless twits laying on something flat and carrying on like fuckwits because it was the "in thing". Recording themselves and posting it on every popular site they can find.

Ironically, these same people often whinge and moan about "individuality".

Especially if it's one of those country style ones.. which I'm assuming it is, considering your mid western American background. 
They are quite similar to the Australian pub.. much more relaxed and easy going, rather than fancy coloured lights bouncing around and blasting bass music that makes you feel like you're about to have an epileptic fit.

You're only 24? I kept going to see bands in bars well into my 40's. Although drugs is a reason to avoid such places. I was never really interested in drugs beyond a big fat spliff or two. 
I see so little of the whine on Tumblr but then I don't really follow the fandom there. I stick the rock and free porn.

Tumblr gets a bad rap but it's like any social media. There are normal folks just doing their thing and there are trolls and creeps. You can tune out a lot more than you think and block just about any idiot though. I enjoy it.

Most people are idiots with social media but in my experience Facebook is far worse than Tumblr. It's made me hate friends I know in RL..."I don't need to know what you just had for dinner, see another picture of your fabulous child, and no I don't care that you're doing yoga right now!"

People tend to be shocked when I give my age as well, but that is because I act older than I am. I think my chemistry teacher said it best when I was 17: "You are like a 40-year-old man trapped in a teenage body." I have an old soul I guess.

I deleted that abomination called FB a few years ago. One of the best decisions I've ever made. The pointless status updates.. the ridiculous juvenile flame wars.. seeing my ex posting every 5 seconds. Sure, I could delete her, but then she'd show up on everybody's else's friggin status so it was pointless.
