Did I hear my cue?

So I picked up Destiny again today.
Simply because I miss talking to pretty much 90% my RL gamer friends. This is the saddest thing that has happened to me, video gaming wise, in a long time. Trivia: I instinctively wanted to add "after Destiny", and only then realized I was originally talking about Destiny all along.
I don't like Destiny.

I hear you. Destiny is the only game i have ever bought that made me feel conned. Not in the usual gamer 'this isn't what i wanted' way but in bait-and-switch advertising kind of way. The only reason i still do have it installed is because of the bloody season pass. If i have paid for it, i will play it (at least the minimal mission tree they call 'story' over there).
Seriously, frack that game and the company that made it.

Yeah, that sums it up.
I knew before I don't like straight-up FPS. I knew before I don't like grindy MMOs. The thing is, they were tirelessly advertising that it is NOT these things, and essentially Fallout in space. What's with mentioning "exploration" and terms like "crafting your own path" in any freaking press statement or interview? I was expecting creating a character and becoming my version of Firefly, roaming around in space and landing on & discovering random planets. Solely because of the advertising, I never questioned the possibility to do just that even for a second.
But there is no lore, no exploration, no individual story. It's the same gear dependend, eventually un-immersively methodical boss grind supermarket, like any other game of its (very well existing) kind, where you feel as individually as the number you picked.
I'm not even angry anymore. I just don't understand why they did that - it's not like advertising stuff to hardcore shooter & MMO fans would have not secured incredible sales even more.

Is it... pathologically edgy, as most recent shows?
Not gonna lie, I'm pretty much of a whimp when it comes to entertainment in that special regard: I don't need it to be all romcoms, but when I get home from work, shows like Breaking Bad & True Detective are too much for me, cause the head won't stop when I try to sleep. My current favourites are Mad Men & Luther, they sport about the right amount of drama & engagement, yet without me wanting to kill myself in tears after the credits roll.
I appreciate that these shows are there, and I'm not saying all shows should be braindead & all giggles. But given my timeframe of watching series, I prefer not feeling worse after spending my past-time...

Dude, I was worried when I heard Mel Gibson was not gonna be in it, but I was actually relieved when it turned out to be Tom Hardy. Out of all the "recent" male actors, he's actually one of my favourites. (Also he didn't randomly decide to hate women, blacks, jews and sober people yet). There's not many bad ass british actors - I can't stand Daniel Craig, and I could kinda imagine they wouldn't randomly make Max a black guy.

I'm with you on that. The first two with Mel were the best. Beyond Thunderdome was a hideous wreck and I've no doubt this one, Mel-less, and in the new Hollywood age of making everything loud and cgi will be dreadful. The trailer I saw for it looked pretty bad too.

I don't really know how to answer that. I would watch the first episode. If you don't like that, then the show isn't for you.
