Regarding Cullen:

You're telling me, I've lost count of how many times I've argued with the cullenites that Cullen is not a boy toy or a lump of meat to be devoured by sex-deprived women.

The guy has PTSD, is 30 yrs old, had military training. He's definitely NOT a Disney prince. There's even a scene where he clearly growls at the Inquisitor if she even tries showing pity for Samson, the man who helped implode the Templar Order.

I'm a woman, but the way some women picture him, as if he were their sex doll, just sickens me. And the worst part of it is that they call his VA Commander. Not only that, but they make jokes at him involving Cullen and the guy doesn't have the slightest clue what they're talking about. Jesus...

I find that it usually just makes most threads a more pleasant place to be, if I try to be respectful of other parts of the fandom. 

 

Of course, as a Cullenite, I'm certainly a little biased. On the other hand, I completely understand some people not liking Cullen. But Cullen is a fictional character, so he doesn't really have any feelings to be considerate of. 

 

If I dislike a character...Say, Bianca. I might express a dislike of that character without concern for her feelings, since they don't exist. If I were to start talking about how Bianca fans in general express their admiration of the character in a way I find unacceptable, then I probably shouldn't be surprised if it turns out that I'm bringing negativity where it isn't really needed. 

 

But that's just my approach, of course. I enjoy this thread too much to really want to contribute to any negative vibes.

I actually have a character study case I wrote on Cullen, Started it when I played DA2 the first time. I've been a Cullen fan since he ran away from my origins mage the first time I ever played that game years ago. I also have an inkling he's closer to 35 years old, with at least 20 years military (joining the templars at 13). I'll admit, I adore the Cullen romance for DAI, it's not just well written but well animated in Cullen's case. Watch a video of the first flirt at skyhold and first romance scene in very slow motion to notice half the slight character animations you miss at normal speed. Whoever bioware employs for animations mucked my inquisitor up big time but did well with a few of the companions and characters. I adore Dorian as well, one of my favourite DA characters right there.. or is my actual favourite to be more honest.

 

As you may have noticed already I do allow myself a little bit of fangirling sometimes. though I haven't hit the gutter over a fictional character since I was 14, but that was a book character. I still can't read that book. I'm in my late 20's and have a kid, I'm old enough to know my weaknesses.. *eyes series in her bookcase and calls for more apple cider*

 

yay wall of text. Back to reading fanfic and becoming a chew toy for dragons!
