I was wondering if there shouldn't be another thread dedicated to discussing the character of Cullen. One for fans of his who don't identify with this particular part of the fandom.
A newcomer to the bsn forum complained to me on twitter that she was ignored there when trying to discuss him.

Sadly it wouldn't work as the overly crazy people would gate crash that too. I wish there was a place I could discuss the actual character, sadly it's not on bioware forums

I had a lovely debate with a group of acquaintances that fit that generalisation in a coffee shop last week. I never thought discussions like that happened when not on the internet but.. they do. Who knew.

Not always. It's one of the biggest threads out there, so there's an array of denizens populating it, some of whom aren't actually fixated on Cullen in a romantic sense...Surprising though that may be.
I haven't been a regular poster there since release, but there are a few very sweet people who hang out amidst the mass.

Cullen. I just don't like the guy. On my jerk ass play through I told Cullen to start taking lyrium again and was surprised by how that turned out. I was thinking "Now this sounds more like the Cullen I remember and disliked from previous games." I'm keeping you off the sauce from now on.

Either you're into smut, Cullen worship, naked screenshots and other derived subjects or get out. Anyone who doesn't fit into this narrow category quickly stops participating.

I think most character appreciation threads tend to accrue followings that focus on admiring or even something akin to "worshipping" the character in question, whether it's entirely reasonable or not. As usual, I'd rather avoid serious discussions in this thread, which is generally way too fun for that.
But I know posters in that thread, and I know how sweet and thoughtful some of them are. I wanted to give Roly my perspective on it.
