Blackwall is my favourite companion, and I deem him to be my Inquisitor's Lancer. Or "Varric", in DA terms. I think he's the only companion who actually becomes your friend.

 

But maybe it's just because of the age again.

 

He's... not my favourite, but perfectly acceptable. 

 

Though I will say that romancing him was great, up until his Judgement in the throne room which was all kinds of messed up.

I remember them going about and picking up his artifacts, and he remembered something about his badge (or whichever artiifact), he was recalling when his commander got ambushed by the dark spawn.

 

I actually had to play it that Abaeni already had figured it out for herself and was reminding him to keep his cover, just for the scene to make sense.

I almost always play a mage and I don't like many of the staff designs, it bothers me.
