was still a good start though.

None of that stuff is finished till you play...like with Ben his A team was going to be Solas, Blackwall/ Varrc, Cassanadra.  But Blackwall turned into a bit of a jerk and Dorian was awesome so swapped out Blackwall for Dorian and then because I felt there was more symetry to it took him along instead of Solas to the final battle.

Kara was going to be Varric/Sera, Iron Bull. Dorian, but playing through the game I think she will...believe it or not...get along with Cassandra really well.  Despite the differences in their respective faiths they are really sympathetic characters...and Varric in DA I...while still awesome in his way...kinda bugged me...so he's out.

And heck I thought my Hawke would love Isabella so Isabella, Anders, Aveline/Varric...but ended up esentialy being Aveline/ Fenris, Anders, and Varric.

Yeah, I try to let the game guide me rather then the other way around. It's easier, and funner. Makes for some really good stories haha.

With Kara/Ben and my other planned Inquisitors I really tried coming up with a backstory this time rather then dictate how I think they would play the game.  Granted then BioWare actually forced me to change my backstory about four times. lol.  But I respect their canon.

It depends for me since I gravitate toward certain companions more than others thus they tend to be in my party.

Varric for instance followed both my Inquisitor and Hawke on every quest except Mark of the Assassin because the dead weight Tallis took his spot.

I have 'A' teams which folow me around on main quests and, in Inquisition, the first time i went to an area.

'B' Teams that have at least one A team member but not made up of all A team members.

And 'C' Teams.  Those that do not have any A team members.

I have a love-hate relationship with the small amount of canon backstory for the Inquisitor that Bioware gave us, It did leave it nicely open to imagination around the base foundation of the player character Bioware gave us.

Human mage: A what does your parents think of you option, then the nobility part or what the circle was like. It's all base though, not overly informative. Then a tiny chat with Cullen about travelling to Haven from Ostwick circle. I can't think of any other "lets talk about your past prior to haven" comments.. Oh, Vivienne asks about the circle and one specific senior enchanter. Plus views on the chantry, the maker, the herald stuff, the templars, the mages, the.. I'm sure there's more but all have a good range of different answers.

so yeah.. love/hate for all that. I kind of miss DAO's origin stories, but love how flexible it is for my Inquisitor while still having a foundation to build on.

On companions, the only one I don't like much is Vivienne so the rest get a good amount of party-time with my Inquisitors.

But its almost like BioWare wanted to have their cake and eat it to since they did release backstories on the website, bit bare bones, but the Inquisitor is not entirely a blank slate...yet I do not feel the connection like I did with Shepard's pre Spectre history.

I try and vary my party depending on the quest but Varric is always my first pick with Solas another regular feature in my party.

The other member is usually Sera but can vary depending on the area.

That's why I said they gave us a base foundation for the Inquisitor, there's info there about them. In codex, dialogue, website etc but it's not much. I'm not often a fan of character's with a past story that has no leeway whatsoever (Hawke, Geralt from the wither etc) but I kind of do like what they did with DAO and DAI.

I liked the Qunari one because it was so vague but I would've liked the race specific war table missions to be playable.

likewise on the war table missions. Especially the elven chain which they left in by accident, it was meant to have dialogue with companions at the end since the clan could be killed but that part was all cut, yet they left the war table chain lol.

Meh I feel the more meat they give you to chew on often the easier it is for you to roleplay.  The stronger the foundation, the better the feel you can get for the character and the easier it is to get in character.

Granted from what I have seen of the Witcher they go too far with Geralt...lol.  I hate to be one of *those* people but I have a hard time considering the Witcher an RPG.

Yeah that one especially needed to be playable since I lost the Lavellan clan quite a few times before stumbling on to the solution lol.

Yeah Mike Laidlaw guy actually said that chain was left in by accident, as they'd cut everything that was to go with the result. ahh well.

Is it just me or does this make game development more lovely? Your project gets so large you can forget bits of it.

I've decided to give nightmare mode a little break. And do a fast casual speed run with an ugly Inquisitor to unlock a few Keep tiles that are from specific main quest choices.

I was hoping all of the options would show up in Keep. That they wouldn't have to be unlocked because, well, I don't really care that much about the story. Only problem is, I can't make interesting choices in keep anymore, so I have to play through it again. Damn those sneaky Keep devils.
