Well, there are three of us. I'm a vegan.

On of the best advices on the health/sport topic I can provide is to walk/bicycle more.

I've forgotten how to ride a bicycle. My brother bought one a week ago, I hop on it, and it feels so weird. I tried to do a U turn on it and I had to put my feet down because I could feel myself falling off.

So nothing but water. Squash and juice alright?

Depends on ingredients. Usually, juice contains sugar.

nope. Juice is just as bad as pop. Water, coffee, or tea only. No juice, no soda, no energy drinks.

Alright.

How long does this first step take?

Diet change isn't temporary. It might be difficult, but at some point becomes a habit.

Uh, it's sort of a forever commitment. When you feel like you don't need sugar any more that's when you can try it again.

I meant, how long before the next thing, like changing meals. I can't do it all at once. I'd probably give up within a day if that were happening.

That's why I haven't told you the next step yet. I'll let you know when I think you're ready. Right now you can't even cut down to a single soda per day, despite your promise.

Promise? I made no such thing. I said I would try... and I failed immediately. I'm going to do better this time.

okay, I'm telling you that if you "immediately fail" again, then I'm not giving you any more advice. It's too discouraging.

You have to make the choice to be healthy every day. It's not a situation where you just give up and stop.

I will not give up.

Not even when you get tension headaches from cutting out soda? Not even when you're exhausted but need to stay up late for a project?

I'm telling you, you'll hate both of us before this is over. It'll be very easy to give up.

Nope. I will not give up. I promise, I will put everything I have into this. 100%!

Both of us? You mean me and you? Because I could never hate you. :)

oh you won't be saying that at 11 pm when you feel like your head is going to explode and you feel like you might puke from the pain.

And you know a soda will fix it, but you can't have one so all you can do is drink more water.

Soda withdrawal is a ******.

That's what you get for "poisoning" yourself and having to wean yourself off of it I guess...  Getting healthy is never easy, because it's easier not to be.

Well it wouldn't be this bad if you hadn't done it to yourself in the first place!

What did you think would happen drinking litres upon litres of soda in a week?

Think of soda as cocaine and you've got very similar withdrawal symptoms.

I've been this way for years. Since before I gave a damn about my health. You can't blame me for the sins of my youth. :P

Uhm... What the ****, Light. Seriously. You think I didn't get to this point easily, do you?

I'm 24 and just starting to give a damn about my health. We all have "sins of our youth" and you can't just laugh it off like that.

It took me months to get over my sugar addiction and it took a lot of feeling sick and exhausted and freezing my ass off to finally beat it. It was only once I was able to wean myself of sugar that I even started losing weight.

What do you mean "you can't laugh it off like that"? I can laugh it off. I wouldn't be who I am without all of those mistakes, bad choices, wrong decisions... including the poor excuse of a diet. I can laugh them off because it is the past. Now, I can determine my future. If I can't look back and laugh at what a fool I was, what can I do? There's no changing what I did before, so what am I going to do? Let it haunt me? Let it dictate how my life will go on? Hell no. It's there to learn from, and do better by.

I'm not being a a*s or anything. Just sounds like you were ready to have a go at me.

Oftentimes when you laugh things off like that it seems like you aren't taking our conversation seriously.

It starts to feel like you're just telling the other person what they want to hear.
