Ok, I usually go the left hand side of the tree for the passives, all of which are better when your mage throws barriers on itself. So Combat Clarity for mana regen in combat when near hostiles, Fade shield for a stronger barrier the more damage you do, Knight Protector for barriers you create to take longer to decay.Veiled Riposte is from the right hand side and handy too as enemies that hit you while a barrier is active get damaged. That's pretty much it, I don't use the active abilities, just the passives.
Cool, cool! Thanks for the low-down. I may even dump upwards of ten hours of Asteria's playthrough and go back to her spec choice save to do KE. Getting -really- bored of necro stuff again. Besides Verana is a necromage already.

Added an edit after that but here: After that, sit back at range and smash enemies, KE is good for offensive and defensive, and at its best against high dragons.
I play lightning spec mages, always offensive and from a distance. KE passives help me survive against stuff I pull before the warriors can grab them off me. I've never played necromancer, never been interested in it really. Just make sure you have that barrier spell for best effects! ![]()
*takes this moment to listen to the JoH comment about LI again before switching characters*
Hey, speaking of mages... I have never done the Knight-Enchanter specialization yet. Frankly, when I play a mage, the last thing that interests me is wading into the the thick of battle, so KE just hasn't really held any appeal for me. However, I've been looking at its passives and I am thinking of getting it just for those alone. They really seem like some nice defensive buffs. Any play suggestions for a KE who wouldn't be whipping out a magical blade?
*chug a mug and munch a nug*
Neria, the Keeper from the multiplayer uses all of the Knight Enchanter's defensive skills, as well as Spirit & Lightning. She's considered to be one of the most powerful and useful characters in the highest difficulty settings.
Those characters are all essentially mashups of all SP skills put into two individual skill trees, but their composition gives you some pretty clever ideas about what actually works together, which you may not have though about before.
Oh my god. My bank teller is an idiot. I told him that because pay day isn't until friday and I don't have the funds to cover my currency purchase, I just wanted to order the amount and pay when it came in.
He says it's not a problem. When I log into my account today I'm in the red by about $500 because he pushed it through as a purchase. What the ****. Thank god I have another account I can draw from, and thank god I have overdraft protection. ...Moron.
My mage specs plus stats from gear/masterworks always look messy but my style works perfect for me, I've never looked up how anyone else does it for other ideas only because what I managed to figure out through practise and testing works fine for my playstyle. I gear up and ability point out my version of a Storm Battlemage.
generally able to survive taking down a High dragon (hard difficulty setting) while having high threat when actually ability-wise being mostly offensive, other then KE defensive passives and gear-wise mainly just adding defensive fade-touched stuff, with the rest focused on offense.

Muchos gracias, Dieb! Gotta say, some of those skill tree setups look pretty fun. I may actually dip my toes in the waters of MP after all...

Ugh, damned banks. Yeah, they would have nailed you for a nice charge without that overdraft protection. Probably his intention all along, frankly.
Cabot, Princess Dazzle will be needing to start early today. Set her up with a nice ensemble of things tropical and put it on my tab.

Hmm so my lvl 25 mage, finished Jaws of Hakkon and killed Cory and waiting for next DLC does use spirit blade, must be because I just fought a dragon on her. My others don't however lol. The 8 spells Lalaith uses:

Yep. Those too, soft spot for mages, not killing Fiona, plus I majority of the time am playing a mage as well so it makes more sense then waltzing into a fortress full of templars.. I always wish there was a dialogue option for my Inquisitor (mage) to sarcastically say "right a mage walking into a Templar fortress, yes nothing is going to go wrong here. Nothing at all" . and then on returning to haven "I friggin' told you so!"
Seriously! That would have been awesome. ![]()
HA! Yep, did the same thing with my elemental mage. Had no problem whatsoever freezing my party (or fireballing them) if I felt it would help the overall effort. I used to love tracking the insane amount of party damaging friendly fire my elemental mage caused.
I loved throwing fireballs right in the middle of my party.
Alistair always shrugged those off though...so I'd freeze him.

Ouch, that sucks, Dazzle.
Alright, alright. I've put off In Your Heart Shall Burn for long enough. Let's do this! *drains mug, throws it into the fire, grabs bow, walks out*

Yeah, and I should be clear once my cheque is deposited on friday and my mutal funds are transferred, but until then I'm a stressed out Dazzle.
You are a saint, thank you so much sweetheart.

Ya, as her Willness confirmed, it's "check" for us. I guess I should have worded it, "if there was any doubt you were anywhere in the Anglosphere besides America..." ![]()

BUT I SPOILERED IT! UGH!
hehe I love comparing Australian English, American English and British English words used for the same thing, or words meaning completely different things. It's hilarious sometimes. Like this example, which causes a lot of misunderstanding in a voice chat thing for online games:
in Australia a thong is a type of shoe, not a certain pair of women's undergarments.
Tell you what, if you can take my dogs' rawhide bone from her, it's yours.
Spoiler
I can't watch the video yet, but by Jove I will take that bone!
Ouch, yeah may be more helpful if you did head home unfortunately. Just try not to nap before 8pm , or you'll be up stupidly early.. or stay awake stupidly late.
I'm heading home now. I have a real craving for shortbread.

They do, and it always makes me shudder because homonyms are a pet peeve of mine, lol.

That's how the British spell it.

What do y'all call g-strings then?
Oh, and in Britain trousers = pants , and pants = underwear, haha.
If there was any doubt you're Canadian, they've just been dispelled.
Lol, yep. I like pretty spelling. Americans spell everything too simply.
It's to the point that I put an extra u in almost everything, and have to double check. Like... junior doesn't have a u in it, but I always have to remove it. Haha.

They are called g-strings here... We use a lot of british version of words also, trousers are called pants. But I grew up calling underwear either underwear or pants. seriously anything worn from hips to ankle is "pants" most days for me.
