They -used- to be known as thongs here as well, many years ago.  I think the change occured as the new meaning for thong came into use and they had to figure how something else to call them to avoid embarrassment.  "Pissed" confused the hell out of me.  First time I ever encountered it, an English (yes, actually English, not just saying that for anyone in the UK) was talking about how his girlfriend was pissed and I was trying to figure out what she was mad about.   Also, you guys in the UK use "fanny" wrong!

*adjusts his fanny pack*  (no, I don't really have one!)

Of course Australians tend to use their version slang constantly just to make things even more frustrating to non-Australians haha.

They are called g-strings here... We use a lot of british version of words also, trousers are called pants. But I grew up calling underwear either underwear or pants. seriously anything worn from hips to ankle is "pants" most days for me.

But what about the thongs that aren't g-strings, the ones that are closer to cheekies?

Sorry, I'm fascinated. Feel free to toss me off the balcony if you want me to shut up, haha.

BUT I SPOILERED IT!  UGH!

That's like putting a Dr Pepper in front of me and telling me not to touch it.

hehe I love comparing Australian English, American English and British English words used for the same thing, or words meaning completely different things. It's hilarious sometimes. Like this example, which causes a lot of misunderstanding in a voice chat thing for online games:

thongs_zps63nvss6r.jpg in Australia a thong is a type of shoe, not a certain pair of women's undergarments.

People do call those thongs here as well, especially older generations. It's actually becoming less common. I grew up calling them thongs then high school hit and suddenly they are flip-flops?

I've adopted some Thedosian vocabulary, namely underwear is now small clothes.

what the heck are cheekies? wait.. No! don't answer that.. Stuffs general undies, fancy undies or g-strings , we're not as nitpicky I spose.

"pissed" here in Aust can mean either angry, drunk or both at once..

It's definitely an age thing, but a couple of years back I couldn't join my WoW guild's voicechat for raids and mention thongs, they were a group of 19-27yo americans and of course thought I meant the small clothes not the shoes...

Hmm so my lvl 25 mage, finished Jaws of Hakkon and killed Cory and waiting for next DLC does use spirit blade, must be because I just fought a dragon on her. My others don't however lol. The 8 spells Lalaith uses:

Finally some "Show us your pe Inquisitor" that Dieb likes. Everybody, what's your "canon" build for your Inquisitor? (Assuming y'all are insane people who actually have more than one single character)

This youtube guy does pretty good aussie english, aussie slang and comparison videos. I think there's only 5 or 6 about that anyway, don't really like the rest but:

Cheque is the Aust. way of spelling it too. How do Americans spell it? check?

Odd, is the same word in Spanish (cheque I mean, possibly sounds different though). I 'm familiar with check because I live in the US (meaning these rectangular pieces of paper that you use to pay things after you sign them), but then I keep scratching my head when I need to pay on a Bar for my drinks and ask for the check, I've been 13 years living here, for a while I was puzzled with this use of the word check.

Also, call it interesting, funny or gross, the word used for g-strings in the country where I come from (and I think that is common in most LA countries) translates in English as "floss"  :P

Bookmarking (and emailing myself link) for later tonight when I can fire up the game to get the specifics.  As far as my "canon" Inky, I confess I've never really understood that concept.  I consider them all equally legit, though I do think of Verana my Qunari necromage to be my favorite playthrough.  After her, probably Beren my 2-handed warrior dude.  Sadly, I hoarked Verana horribly when JoH came out.  I wanted to do it well before the end of the game, so I deleted all her saves beyond 75 hours (about half the game.)  *cries*   I'll post what build stuff I can later tonight.

Yeah, I don't know why asking for the check is a thing. It should be bill, which actually makes sense...

I said it countless times before, but I really only have the one character. Even playing him as a warrior or mage would feel wrong. Plus, I started out with the regular Archery focus, but by now play him like the MP Hunter - so he whields a bow but barely uses any bow skills. It's slightly insane but very rewarding (I've also sorted the skills in the order they are mostly executed in, so you can imagine) All that's to say it doesn't seem to get old, ever.

However, I do admit he has roughly 39748212 pitifully deceased clones, due to learning how exactly the lightning in the Haven intriduction screws you over for some time until the face got perfect. I think I wasted most of my play time on launch day for that...

Canon Inquisitor you say? That would be Mr Elf-Stache. Tempest was hella fun.

I know, I have 8 of them and how am I supposed to choose my children over one another??

I mean, yes Acantha is my favourite, but I don't know if I'd call her canon, since I made some silly choices with her.

But why only one Inqusitor? I'll share all 4 of my main ones instead.. I have a 5th but she's only lvl 15. As you can see I do like my focus abilities.

I have tons of characters but there is one I always hold above the others and they become my canon. Elf-Stache is who I consider canon and lucky the world state I imported for it was with my canon Warden and Hawke.

my main 4 Inquisitors (and my lowly lvl 7 mage) share the same world state import which was with my Canon Warden and Hawke :P

The Inquisitors themselves only differ with who rules Orlais (only one has Celene ruler, 3 gaspard), who they romanced (3 of the 4 different), whether they allied with templars or mages (2 / 2). Other then their classes, races and looks that's about it for differences. I'm boring, and as I've said before generally play the same sort of story every time lol.

Mage gets tailored to their personality. Alceus is a lightning mage whereas Inkeri is an ice mage.

Urgh I should really go to bed now. 1:30am and the kid is very sick, with a bad fever on top of it. I should get some sleep while I can but I'm really not tired yet.
