I never "truly experienced" it for myself, but I watched a friend play it for an entire evening, and it is a zombie game. A zombie game with a great story & scenery.
Zombie refers to a reanimated corpse. They were never deceased in The Last of Us. When a person dies, infected or not, they die. They don't get back up.

The definition of a zombie has widened a bit. These days dead zombies are 'magical' zombies usually found in fantasy games whereas anything dealing with modern day tends to have 'infected' zombies that are technically alive even if they are rotting.

Call it what you will, but I will always argue that the game is not a zombie game. The fungal infection is even based entirely on a real life fungus, Cordyceps, yet we don't call what they infect "zombies" because they aren't.

I wasn't able to get a cat today as planned because bf wants us to have a bigger budget for the adoption fee so I need some serious cheering up, he decided this literally a minute before we got to the front door to head off. seeing as I got all excited and am now rather down.

He should have said this well before we had the car keys, everything in house prepared and definitely before we got to the front door on our way to the car to head to the RSPCA. Ash is a very, very unhappy person, so I went to bed at 11am and slept for almost 8 hours. Someone won't be sleeping tonight
