Also just a point to make. America has plenty of culture .. most of it is a result of the blending of many cultures but still ... rock n roll and I ain't talking elvis ... bo diddley, blues, jazz, bluegrass.

 

We also have a wealth of overlooked culture that was almost destroyed by the American Holocaust but more remains than many give credit to and the culture is here and available to those who seek it.

What we were discussing the other day... was more about "modern American culture." What with celebrities, media, crappy music, etc. :lol: Not that, as an Aussie, I'm one to talk... cause we're pretty much the same.

It is only Thursday for me Bigot ... and Friday is my earliest wake up morning of the week .. have to unload trucks in the freezing dark cold morning with a forklift that will probably get stuck in the snow.

 

I actually like it though but sometimes the pre-dawn wake up is difficult.

You guys jus had to show pictures of pets ... I had two awesome cats (RIP bros) and they finally succumbed to the dangers of nature out here. They were semi-wild anyway so keeping them indoors just seemed really cruel but I live in the mountains and we have all kinds of wild life here .. badger, coyotes, too many damn skunks. My first little buddy down got a crazy toe injury so I had to take him for surgery and he seemed ok but then his immune system did some kind of revolution against him (my vet said it was rare but sometimes happened) and I actually watched the poor little dude die while in the vets office. He looked right at me, it was really sad but at least I was with him.

 

My other homey Maximus just never came home. He was getting on in years and maybe just wasn't fast enough one night.

 

I miss those cats more than I miss most people.

 

Maximus was so awesome he had his own door and always had at least two types of food but he always was waiting at the front door for me when I got off work. F***in little bro. He was a really weird cat. Most cats I think would eat you if they were bigger than you but he gave me the impression he probably would have just protected me like battle cat.

I'm envious of your cold weather though... it's stinking hot down this way and it's making me wanna go "red wedding".. :blink:

Yeah I was born in Montana in the middle of nowhere and I spent 8 years out of country, then 8 more in Hawaii (which is barely America) so my take on Americana may be a bit different than some.

 

Also in any genre of music, even ones that people think are crappy there is always really amazing stuff, unfortunately it just is usually never popular and takes more work to find.

 

EDIT: I have to go get more beer ... this thread is too much fun.

I just got some beers named: Slaughterhouse and it has a butcher knife on the can, yeah can. It's an India styled red ale, 7.5% ... TASTY.

 

What should I listen to?

^^What Roly said. Days can get a little confusing when you work a night shift. I start my shift on one day and it ends the next day. That's why I put Friday in quotes. Thursday evening but last shift.

Loved all your pet stories. I got one I'll share at lunch over a mug of mead. Need to be more drunk. and yeah, what happens at Cabot's stays at Cabot's.....sort of.

I actually LOVE folk music so this is amazing to me ... my parent were hippies and musicians and I grew up around amazing bluegrass and folk. I love this song Voly!
