*Dieb's gleeful DA2 re-visit*
Sorry Voly, Sorry Cassandra, but Aveline still is the baddest of the booty in Thedas.
"Return the money or I'll beat every copper out of you... *reluctant bodyguards appear; doesn't waver in the slightest* ...and your men."

Having played DAI for a long time, I realize how gory the series used to be. All those fights were so guddamn messy.

I LOVE that line from Aveline. She's awesome, and scary. dammit now I want to play DA2 ..

Varric! Aw, come 'ere you wonderful bastard!
(I couldn't have him in my group at all in DAI, because he's Hawke's sidekick, not the Inquisitor's...)
I always had him in my group, more to prove to him that he wasn't the kind of person he thought he was ![]()
He says during dialogue at some point that he would preferably be back in Kirkwall pretending all this crap wasn't happening, but he stays with the Inquisition making a difference instead. I never see him as my Inquisitor's sidekick, just a good, caring, dwarf trying to help ![]()
If my mage Inquisitor has a sidekick, it's Dorian ![]()
Arrgh, stupid internet lag. What's up DQ? I totally kicked ASS in Champions of the Just. Was I over leveled ..... yes AH WAS!! Nightmare level - Roly ..... do it man you know you can!
Anyhoo .... I grinded like the stupid FF geek that I am and bought the beresaad bow from the BE. But ... meh .. it wasn't the bow (yes it was) but skill that kicked ass. *Hi-5's Barris*
Well, as Dieb is here and on the subject of Varric.
I was so disappointed that he wasn't my best friend or I couldn't make him my best friend in Inquisition. Then, i realised - he had so much invested in Hawke, and Hawke in him in DA2. You can make friends but best friends are hard to come by. As much as I was hurt that it wasn't 'my Varric' it made so much sense. I didn't know the guy, he didn't know me and there is a point where he says (not quoting directly) ' Do you know what you mean to people, how you are viewed?.' Why would Varric view you differently? It took me a while to see it but of course it's there to see. I miss him all the same, and I don't get that from any of the advisers/companions in Inquisition, so yeah for me DA2 did it so right.
As far as TW3 is concerned - I'll reserve opinion as this will be my first foray into that series .... because ... PS4. I was supposed to dive in tonight but circumstances were against me. *Drinks and heads out*

I would love Aveline making a comeback in a DAI DLC, I loved her as a character in DA2, the banter between her and Isabela was always priceless, and it was even more heartwarming when they down the road developed some degree of friendship.
I haven't seen it commented anywhere, not sure if people have even realized it. It is something amazing from all DA series, more noticeable in DA2 and DAI. As the game progress, I notice changes how my companions interact with each other in their banter. Regardless of the disparity in personalities, I see that they find common ground, respect each other for what they are, it is really sweet.
I was slightly disappointed with Leliana though, when Morrigan was going to be involved, she acted all bitchy warning my quizzy about her (Maybe she was scorned because Kieran is the son of the Hero of Ferelden who romanced Leliana in my DAO playthrough
, it wouldn't surprise me)
haha, nice work Paragon!!
And here I am lvl 10 and in Skyhold, I did both quests (Redcliffe Mages and Haven) in the lower bracket of their recommended level ranges on nightmare with crappy weapons and gear (haven't been to BE yet!). Did redcliffe at lvl 6, Haven at lvl 9.
Am I a showoff? hells yes! *punches air* , but really I've just had a LOT of practise playing a mage ![]()
*grabs some apple cider and dives back under her table*
I know what you mean about Aveline there Moonblade. I want more of her then a tiny un-playable war table mission! Granted, in writing letters to Cullen telling him to F*** off and stop shouldering in on her job, she has lost none of her personality!

I noticed this on my first playthrough in DAI when banter bug wasn't being annoying anyway. as the game goes they start to understand each other a little more, respect differences etc it's especially noticeable after each companion's personal quests. I always leave time for adventuring (and banter) between companion personal quests because of how the banter tone changes. Also if you romance then break up with a party member other party members comment on it asking them if they want to talk, or drink (note: they never ask the Inquisitor this).

I'm still amazed at how fast this thread get replies sometimes. Especially when I'm not looking. I blink once and it could've gone from herp derp to calculating the end of the universe x'D

Aveline is amazeballs, but unfortunately I played a tank in DA2 and I romanced Fenris so there was no other room for another warrior, so I never really got to enjoy Avey as much as I want :C
I should play through DA2 on my other characters but UGHHHH that game is just... boring :C
We have an uneven number of 2H and Sword+Board warriors in the MP now, so I have high hopes for Aveline to return.
While I would of course prefer her as full-blown SP companion, I'm not sure whether I would like her better as the brief cameo that she would presumeably get; or as a steady choice as an MP agent.
You see, the thing for me is that the implementation of the MP is way better than in MEMP when it comes to narrative tie-in; as it gives all the semi-high profile characters something to "do" during such a global cataclysm. Lots of people criticised Isabela's appearance, but it is mostly based on the fact that they don't enjoy the DAMP (which is fine), since I believe it makes perfect sense for her to be involved in such a non-disclosed fashion (tell me about it)
*Dieb's gleeful DA2 re-visit*
Way to make an entrance, her Royal Hotness Isabela.
The only reason why I don't think Aveline will join us, even in the DAMP is because she has Kirkwall to look after. She's a character who didn't die but has a lot of current responsibilities that i don't see her neglecting them.
My pet peeve with DA2 has nothing to do with the story or combat design really, even when it took me a while to become used to it. It was a big jump regarding the aesthetic and approach of combat with respect to DAO (I found more smooth the transition from DA2 to DAI in terms of combat design to be honest). The reason that I will not play it again is the random bug that makes whole sections of the body disappear or become distorted (it seems that it has to do with DX11), it is scary and "breaks my immersion" big time.
*drinks a tall glass of Vodka**
I have never gotten that bug, so glad of this fact lol. I enjoy DA2 a lot, probably due to not taking the game too seriously and getting pretty much no bugs.
STUFF THAT I MISS IN DA:I and which DA2 still had
(to be expanded as I progress)

Shouldn't expect them to add in anymore existing characters, even though it is possible. Isabela, from my understanding, was only added in because of popular demand. If they continue to go by popular demand, they might as well stick every existing companion in multiplayer, which is a silly idea.

Good point.
But some companions just are, like I said, "semi high profile". Actually, most of the DA2 cast is. They don't really influence the world too much, but they are very charismatic and unique. The DAO cast for example are all either dead or incredibly influencial in Thedas by now.

Added to MP by popular demand, and then Bioware gets torn a new one by people who don't like MP at all and wanted her lol. I don't see them doing that again.
Also they have stated they won't add any character in that could have possibly died in any kind of world state.
Edit! we'll call leliana's constant returns 'magic' and leave it at that..
You, too, know how to make an entrance.

Well she isn't yet but Cassandra and her had kind of a bonding moment.
All is not right with the world until Cassie talks to me about her brother.
*drinks to the Nevarran badass*
This is nagging at me. In your quarters at Skyhol you can climb the ladder to the landing just below the mural on the wall. How DAI seems set up so far points out that this would be possible (I mean they don't seem to willy nilly throw ladders everywhere for no reason at all) for a reason, what is the reason?

Oh hey, I absolutely love Aveline. Frankly, I would dread the thought of her and Cassie going at it. That would just be so wrong.

... That's where you're supposed to hide your elfroot stash. Silly goose!

Oooh I thought it was where I went and hid if my advisors came to badger me about Inquisitor work i probably should be doing, my mistake haha
Dammit every single time someone mentions elfroot stash etc my mind completely jumps to what Scout Harding says to the Inquisitor at the end of JoH , I have to get there and actually record it soon so i rememebr the exact words. Cracks me up every friggin time.
