You know? Strangely, Merrill is the ONLY character in all BW games with whom I have achieved 100% unfriendly/rivalry status, simply following my Hawke's concept, not on purpose. I can't tell why really, the character seems to be well written, and possibly things would have worked different with my Warden or my Inquisitor.
The wonderful thing about Friendship/Rivalry is, you can be her friend with 100% Rivalry. I really like her, yet I never tire of pointing out her blood magic naivité is silly.
My Hawke's never really got along with Merrill , being mages themselves and anti-bloodmagic didn't help I believe.
