It's not that bad.  I really like them.  And yes, the music is really good, great Zimmer work.

I grew up reading the books & watching the Jeremy Brett Holmes, so I had a really hard time adapting to it.

There's no way to make this not sound obnoxious, but the subtle Britishness is something that is hard to mimmick...

That's to say, if they had just created two new characters (or named them differently, really) it would have been a fine movie. I just don't get the insistance of branding it with a franchise not too popular to begin with.

I actually really like the movies. Can't wait for the third one, which I believe was confirmed.

Sherlock Holmes 3 was confirmed by Robert Downey Jr back in October of last year.

It was only script work though. At that point, they were working on the script, making it the best it could possibly be so there is always doubt it doesn't happen (which is silly because the last one brought in big bucks) and also, Robert said that he would only return if the script was great. Seeing as he confirmed it, it's probably great and it's most definetely happening.

Oh, in defense of the movies, they did get one thing absolutely right even the original TV series failed (like most adaptions): Jude Law, an attractive guy, cast as Dr. Watson.

I don't know why most adaptions insit on protraying poor John as the dorky sidekick, when the books at numerous occasions describe how he's rather a well-built ladies' man, and basically the strong arm of the duo.

Still, I can only recommend taking a look at the show. I was actually pleasantly surprised how much Cumberbatch borrowed from Brett's interpretation:

No one actually knows who Ashley is based off of. It could be that her face is a random computer generated one.

It's hard to beat one of the definite depictions of Holmes, I'll grant you - Brett was just brilliant.

I just love how he's geeky and repulsive, yet still a gentleman. Also the faces he makes when listening to people talk is just stellar acting; it's also something he added to the character by intuition.

But again, the Guy Richie movies were good, American movies. I have no other way to put it, it's not criticism, nor even a rating. They just act differently - much like Japanese movies are very gesture-heavy. British actors admittedly look like stickmen, which is why there are so many close up shots; and only totales when they're walking places!

You know, we're all BioWare fans: It's basically like seeing someone's else's PC.

No one actually knows who Ashley is based off of. It could be that her face is a random computer generated one.

Yet despite seeing good looking, tanned, dark-haired women every day, this one stuck out so much it instantly hit me despite being visible for less than a full second...I mean, it's only likely that the model/actress has had more than one single engagement.

Yeah, but maybe I'm just delusional. It happens.

What do you think of Ian Mckellen being Sherlock in the movie Mr Holmes?
