To Leliana:

"Hey I heard you were close to the Divine, does that mean you were LOVERS!!!"

To Dorian:

"So you and Felix were close childhood friends. Does that mean you were LOVERS!!!"

To Blackwall:

"Hey, I heard all Grey Wardens are criminals, does that mean you are a CRIMINAL!!!"

The Inquisitor needs to shut their mouth sometimes. I swear, they sometimes act like this:

Isn't this like saying the Warden has no tact because he can tell Leliana to go cook something for Alistair? I don't really like those sorts of questions, so I don't really see any better way to ask it. Even if you beat around the bush more in the language, it's still the same crappy inquiry.

Well those dialogue options ARE just that options. When I see those appear, I just do not click on them.

Granted I will say it is harder to give your Inquisitor a personality in this game, if it were like DA2, then I can see someone playing an a'hole Inquisitor asking those questions.

Funny thing about those dialogue options is they are optional.
I don't want my Inquisitor to beat around the bush, just be as blunt as possible. No time for tact.

I think those lines are in there to squash fan speculation.

If characters are the least bit close people start launching enough ships to fill a fleet. Fandoms sometimes act like two people can't like one another without fvcking.

Like that stops crazy fans to believe it anyway.

Fandoms also assumes that hate/dislike = sexual tension

Part of the problem is that there aren't tones for "investigate". I mean, I get that requiring it would probably just mean less investigates, but it still leads to the investigates being kind of dull and not necessarily fitting your character.

I think those lines are in there to squash fan speculation.

Were there really people who thought that Leliana/Justinia was a thing?

Hah. Unfortunately, nothing stops the ships from sailing. The fandom is nothing if not tenacious.

That question to Leliana is totally appropriate, and I don't believe her answer. She talks about a party not being a party till your small clothes are nailed to a chantry board but how dare you inquire if she had more than friendly relations with the Divine. I played all three games Leliana you can't fool me!

Seriously though, I often choose not to ask that question even though she has not approval ratings - it just doesn't fit most of my inky's styles.

I can't say that I've seen that one in particular, but I wouldn't be surprised. No ship is sinkable for the BSN!

There was a lot of people for example who thought Leliana & Josephine were lovers pre-release, just because of a dev statement that they were close. Even after release, when it is clear in game that they are not, some people still apparently misinterpret it as being more than friendship.

Leliana had a threesome with a pirate and the Warden in my playthrough so it wouldn't be totally inappropriate to ask. Unfortunately, the Inquisitor wasn't around to see it (or participate).

Yes, because all available options define all Inquisitors simultaneously. Never mind that the player makes the choice.

Well, yeah, but Leliana/Josephine would be hot, so I get why people are determined to believe that.

Though I guess there must be some people who'd find Leliana/Justinia hot.

I dunno, my search for...relevant fan art has been fruitless, and my Google Fu is usually better than this. I could just do it myself, but I don't want to start something I fear i may not be able to stop XD

The OP examples are how the recipient takes the inquiry, not necessarily how it was always asked.

eg. Quizzy askes Leliana how close was she to the Divine, Leliana then immediately takes that as innuendo. Quizzy phrased it in a way that Leliana could have just said she was like a mother to her. The fault is with Leliana's perception.

I never even ask Leliana about her relationship with Justinia anymore, that option just stays unselected. Especially seeing as she literally just told me a few seconds ago that the Hero of Ferelden is her great love, that she is always in her thoughts, etc etc.

Makes my Quizzy seem like a complete moron. :S

The problem is first time through a game we don't know if not asking that question might lock out a quest or  change the story somehow. The thing with that line in Leliana is it comes out of left field. She's told us that the HoF was her soul mate and that she admired the Divine on religious and personal grounds. It's like, if your comforting a widow right after the funeral of her husband and his co worker comes over and gives the wife a hug and you nudge her in the ribs, "You and him doing it?" You know, if they had added a fourth option in dialogue so we could play some kind of socially clueless inky who said those kind of things all the time I'd love it. "So Alexius, your kids gonna kick the bucket soon huh."
