What are some good sci fi games to play while waiting for NME?

Well, that title pretty much explains it all. I got a sci-fi fever for some reason and I want to play games that make me say "OMG I LOVE SPACE". I was  playing Dead Space these days and I really enjoyed it. The no gravity parts and those sneak bastards getting ready to slaughter you in vacuum without you hearing anything put a smile on my face. I'll probably pick the second one in the near future.

So, what more is out there? It can be any genre really.

Sci-Fi? Portal 2, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Crysis 2 and Try Red Alert 2 if you still haven't played it and of course The Halo Franchise. I can't remember any more right now, But If something crosses my mind, I Will add it to the list.

Any genre? Broken Age is a really decent game, The Walking Dead is great, The Cave, Splinter Cell: Blacklist, Mirror's Edge, L.A. Confidential and The Tomb Raider Trilogy "Legend, Anniversary and Underworld". Will add more if something crosses my mind as well.

Played them all. Except Halo 4 which I'd love to play, but I don't have the right console at the moment.

And by any genre, I mean FPS, TPS, RTS, etc... but it has to be sci-fi! But I can tell you have a good taste in game, sir. Congratulations.

Thanks. :) I share the same interest with you that i prefer Sci-Fi over any other narrative genre. I have a thing for thrillers as well, But I'm willing to give a few shots every now and then to some non-Sci-Fi games. Sometimes it works, For example, my experience with Broken Age, And Sometimes it doesn't. I couldn't bare Skyrim or Dishonored for more than two hours.

I liked Deus Ex: HR and disliked Dishonored? I'm surprised! I thought the latter was better in amost every aspect.

It has something to do with the story, Deus Ex: Human Revolution's story was thought-provoking and deep. But Dishonored's story was kinda shallow and under-developed. But that's just my opinion based on my own preference.

I recommend FTL: Faster Than Light. It's a simple, addicting rogue-like game, that has a little whimsy to it. There's something magical about travelling through space with your personally customized ship and crew, at the mercy of your own skill and luck. The RNG can be a bit merciless at times, though.

To add, there is barely any written story beyond "regroup with rest of fleet to fight incoming horde of rebels". You'll just have to be imaginative and roleplay a bit. Adds a lot of uniqueness to each playthrough.

The music helps, too.

What I can't wait for is Rebel Galaxy by Double Damage.  If they pull it off, it looks kick ass.

X-Com Enemy Unknown and its add-on Enemy Within.

Beware though, when it says hard difficulty, it means hard. It will punt you in the balls and drag your mutilated, screaming body across the screen. Not as hard as the original, but this game is no cupcake for people expecting difficulties like most are used to with current gen games.

I was waitiginf for someone to bring FTL up. I haven't played yet, but I had a feeling it would be just a matter of time after I saw a posted of someone saying he felt like Commander Adama playing that game. Might pick it up soon.

Hmm. I saw a few videos on youtube and they look pretty good.

Amazing games. I still have to beat them on the hardest difficulty with the no save option.

Metal Gear Rising

Fallout 2

MGR is outstading. The Fallout series I only played a bit of the third one, but I didn't like that kind of open world game. Or at least I never gave them enough time so I could enjoy it. The Second and First are more like Baldur's Gate, aren't them?

Anyway, I've been reading a lot of great games on this thread. I approve.

I'd recommend going with the 'Long War' mod for this. It adds a lot of weapons variation and a lot more classes to give you more tactical options.

That said, if you like 4X games you might want to look into games like Sins of the Solar Empire: Rebellion. And if you crave space battles, Star Wars: Empire at War has some great space combat going for you.
