I am looking forward to starting this game but I am stuck between two classes both of which look pretty cool. I am not sure if I want to play as an Infiltrator or a Soldier. What classes have you guys picked and why?

Soldier was more fun to play for me. Revenant, Eviscerator, Viper - you have weapon for every possible situation. Adrenaline Rush is probably the most powerful class-specific talent in the game. It was intense experience for me, second only to a Vanguard class.

IMO this comes down to which weapon you plan on taking on the colletor ship.

If its the revenant you have to take soldier but if its the widow i'd definitely take infiltrator

I liked Infiltrator. They have enough of the Soldier's gameplay to satiate your combat appetite, but you also have a variety of powers and Cloak is amazing

Having played through as an Adept once, Vanguard, 5 times, and most way through as a soldier, my advice would be, Infiltrator. So far, the most entertaining part of Soldier is the sniping. I took the Revenant on the collector ship, and it actually made soldier MORE boring, which I didn't think was possible. My next play through, I'm either going to try Infiltrator, with its snipery goodness, or do another vanguard run

Infiltrator between those two choices but out of all the classes i would pick Engineer they might sound boring/weak but they are really powerful.

I've played through on a Soldier once and it was quite fun. The Revenant is damn powerful, though I kind of regret passing over the Widow.

I've tried playing an Infiltrator a few times but I always get bored before too long. Hanging back and sniping isn't my thing.

Vanguard is so fun that it has to be played more than once. I'm on my fourth run, personally. :P

They're both good choices. I think the infiltrator is a more memorable experience but the soldier is definately worth trying too. Just start a game with both and see which one you end up playing more of.

Infiltrator is an even better version of a Soldier than the Soldier class is. Being able to simply go invisble and flank and enemy with no resistance or simply bail out of cover when your spot has been flanked.

Plus Solidiers really only get Assault Rifles and Adrenaline, and once a whole group of Geth Hunters flank your position, the last thing you care about is how fast your gun goes or how slow you can make shooting.

P.S. I went through Insanity with an Infiltrator. When you realize it takes good time too kill enemies you need to be able to run away occasionally. If I had a dime for everytime I saved myself from a "Critical Mission Failure" with the cloak, I would be filthy rich.

They dont even come close with the revenant and disruptor ammo.

Soldier is better(weapon damage, health, and hardened adrenaline rush improves surviability a lot) and cloak sucks often. Some enemies went automaticly in cover when i used it.
When cloaked, a infiltrator could still die in crossfire and health/shield regeneration stops.

cloak is half better or bad. it doesn't give you any biotic protection. so when you reveal, you should kill enemy or hide some place quickly. I played all class. soldier is still my favorite. I want to throw all weapon power to enemies. so it's not coincident that I bring grunt all the time. he is brave, funny as well. when melee attack, he just rush them, kill all (fortification).

Y'know, Adrenaline Rush can also be used to run away if necessary, helped along by the Soldier's extra run speed.

Soldiers don't hide. Soldiers shoot or soldiers die.

That's because most times that's all you need.

But it is also false. concussive  shot is a very handy skill. Disruptor ammo rocks and inferno round are pretty ace. Assault rifle with tungsten ammo will finish of a loki on insanity quicker than you can say incinerate.

Pay attention to the battle field. Set you your squaddies right. don't get flanked. If, god forbid, you must retreat, adrenaline rush allows you to cover a lot of distance, very quickly without getting shot.

Pleas note - these are opinions. your personal gameplay experience may vary

I still get flanked by Geth hunters and Juggernauts because my Ai squadmates DO NOT SHOOT PEOPLE WITH CLOAKS ON BUT ME.

the ai squadmates aren't 100% reliable so at times you gotta rely on yourself with your class and not your AI squadmates to drop guys that might flank you.

I couldn't agree more, AI squddies are pretty useless at times. that's why I also suggested you pay attention to the battlefield. Let your squaddies deal with the minions while you keep your focus on serious threats - fast closers and hunters and destroyers and such. I am consantly checking the radar to try and identify flankers before they become a problem.

As far as relying on yourself there is no better char for taking down a solo flanker than a revenant chugging soldier with Adrenaline rush.

Well someone with AI Hacking is not bad either. One hacked Destroyer can clear a room.

Agreed. Hacking can make many geth encounters trivial. But you can still get flanked while your destroyer is of clearing the room. You still need to take em down.  However,  we are not just talking about geth flankers. We were talking about getting flanked in general - this is not a tactic of geth alone and you can't hack an elite eclipse vanguard. You also need to take down their barrier, their armor and then kill em, prefereably without dying. They keep coming and they have really nasty shotguns. Even a weak gamer such as me can do this with a soldier playing on insanity in a room full of cross fire. Hair rasing though.

Well, my Infiltrator could... I took Dominate as my bonus power because I enjoyed the tactic so much, and took Agent to cycle my powers faster (such as Incinerate to open up targets for the hacking power.)

recently I acquired all optional armor, weapons such as collector armor, blood dragon armor, terminus armor, black storm heavy weapon, inferno armor, additional snipper rifle. but since i have played as infiltrator, I can't use rifle yet. I want to use collector beam rifle which is not the same as another one when you go to horizon mission. I guess that I can only use it when I play as soldier. well, next time. anyway, all new armor, weapons are awesome. especially, blackstorm is hell of kill at one time. all enemies are absorbed, and totally disappeared by one shot. it's even absorbed Colasso which is Geth's main heavy weapon.
