I want to know which is better, considering I will always crit while flanking and what numbers I should aim for.

Flanking is better if you can always be flanking. You get a higher damage bonus.

You'll notice sharp decreases in your dps though if you're not flanking.

Assasins get auto crits from stealth attacks which end-ups with target dying and reseting the cc of stealth since you'll also have flank attack you're seldomly out stealth. Also there is mercy killing in subterfuge tree which provides a lot of auto-crits.

With flanking attack "ability" you get twice the chance of doing critical damage so if you're playing DW Assasin then getting %30 Crit-chance is enough then i would focus on critical damage then flanking damage. Don't waste item slots with armor penetration since it scales poorly with critical hits, second you can already reduce armor by %75 with stealth attacks and already have passive %25 armor reduction. Plus Mark of Death can provide another %25 with its upgrade.

So go for critical damage then flanking damage i would say.

Flanking damage provides the best bonus in the game. If you're already flanking 90% of the time to get the Sneak Attack bonus, there is no reason to go crit damage over flank damage.

Some of the info here is backwards.

As a DW rogue, Crit Chance is best for Leather Offense until you have about 50% crit (unless your Dex is somehow very low), assuming you're using a Looked Like It Hurt + Cheap Shot build.  Once you have that, you auto-crit when flanking.

At that point, Crit Damage and Flanking Damage have the exact same effect (+3% damage per T3 material, additive; see the damage calculation).

That means Flanking Damage applies to flanking attacks only, while Crit Damage applies to all flanking attacks and half of attacks from the front.  There is zero reason to take Flanking Damage at that point; it's strictly worse than Crit Damage.

See the link in my post, which has the damage formulas taken from the in-game scripts, along with test results for various other things.

does flanking damage get bonuses on top of crit if you hit from stealth?

or does crit get buffed from flank damage?
