So finally finished DAI (I pre-ordered and I've put over 300 hours into my playthrough).  I beat the final boss and watch the credits roll and see that Mark Meer was in the game.  I loved Meer in Mass Effect and I'm a huge fan.  I wasn't able to pick out who he was playing though in this game.  The wikia only says 'additional voices'.  I was wondering if anyone knew who he played in this game.  Thanks in advance!

He plays the barkeep at Skyhold, for sure.

Hmm, I can't believe I didn't see that!  I can imagine it now but I have to go talk to him in game again!

Probably the most boring, monotone character you can find. Kind of surprised he wasn't asked to voice the Inquisitor.

Yeah I never realized he was Cabot until it was pointed out here.

I really wish that Cabot and Krem got into some kind of argument at some point. It would've been funny to have the two VA's bickering.

OMG KaiserShep you are so right.  It reminds me of the Citadel DLC where MaleShep and Blasto were arguing.  That was sooo funny they could do something similar with Hale and Meer.

Apparently he also player the Lyrium Merchant, but I don't remember anyone called that in DA:I. Also, Red Templars.

See his Wikipedia page.

lyrium merchant? There was one dwarf talking with josephine at some point in haven. He was apparently arranging lyrium for inquisition. Maybe it was that one.

This isn't going to be a popular opinion but I honestly grow tired of Meer and Hale showing up in Bioware games, it's like the Tim Burton-Johnny Depp/Helena Bonham-Carter thing. It stops being getting cast because they're right for the part and starts to become more like a 'we employ our friends' situation. Same deal with the Firefly/Torchwood casts, I know Bioware are big fans but everytime they release a new title it's a guessing game of 'which actor from Firefly/Torchwood is going to be in this one?'

You say that of the person who voiced the Vorcha?

I'm glad he didn't, actually. I prefer protagonists to have unique voices across the different games. Makes it easier to relate to them.

I recall that lyrium merchant being a woman.

Maybe he's one of the shady lyrium merchants in Halamshiral? I think dwarf inquisitors get to talk to those two, so it would be a non-trivial role.

There is a Dwarven trader in the game that has several lines, and also explains why the Dwarves simply do not cut off trade with the Templars; possibly outside the Chantry in Haven?

The difference however is that Bioware has used them mostly as secondary, minor characters, unlike Tim Burton who insists on making his frequent collaborators the main characters in every damnable movie he can crank out. It keeps our exposure to them in moderation, so we don't get sick of them like Depp and HBC, which is a shame because I hate that Burton has caused me to hate great actors, who I like?

I think he was one of those merchants, but I might be confusing it with one of the other myriad dwarves he played?

Considering the amount of characters he's played in Bioware games that most of us were surprised to learn only later on (and indeed, the entire question behind this thread), Mark Meer is far more talented than people give him credit for.

As I've said before, even Hale was a tad stiff in ME1 when it came to playing Shepard, so it was the writing's fault more than their performances. Plus, he was originally hired just to do the temp-track, never expecting to be given the actual role, so you can cut him some slack for it not being his best work... how would you feel if you were a film actor and people kept ragging on you for being in a film that used only first takes and your audition tape?

They once said they keep hiring the same people because they work well with them and because they know they will do a good job. Gideon Emery, for instance, has been in all major BioWare games since Mass Effect, except ME3.

Honestly, I never know Mark Meer is doing a role until I read it is him later.  I think that's a good thing.   Kind of the total opposite of Claudia Christian (and God forgive me for saying this because I lover her work as an actress, just not as a voice actress it seems) in Skyrim where there is no deviation from character to character.

I really wasn't looking to start any fights here.  This wasn't a thread about bashing Mark Meer or who he should/shouldn't have played.  I was just asking who he did play in DAI.  So far people think Cabot, Legionnaire, Red Templars, a Lyrium Merchant.  Kindly make your own thread if you want to talk other stuff.

Sorry, didn't mean to derail your thread or anything. Just ignore my post people.   :)

He's definitely one (or possibly several) of the dwarves standing around chatting in Val Royeaux.
