Yeah, I would've loved to have that Avaar be a companion. His character seemed ripe for amusement in banter. I really hope we can get one in the future. Qunari are cool and all, but I must admit, despite never actually delving really deeply into it, I'm already getting a little sick of the Qun and its people.
Sky Watcher for companion?

So are Avvar human? I ask because the body model for Sky Watcher is way, way bigger than the human male.

They are pretty much the proto-Cashind with much lore and story to be explored

I know right? I guess I can understand, as the Qun is kind of their baby, as it's one of the more alien cultures in Thedas, but I find the Avaar more fascinating in general, I suppose partly because they've yet to approach overexposure.

There were basically three tribes, one migrated further South, one stick to the mountains and one settled Ferelden Valley, drifting further from original warrior culture than those two. Avvar are physically intimidating (and like their furs, which makes them appear even bigger) but that's just fantasy spin on "Warrior barbarians who need to withstand harsh environment". They're still perfectly human (ok, maybe with some small dose of dwarven blood).

In a way I do want them to fully go deep in the Qun but at the same time I hope we get a Avvar companion who traveled north

Qunari are created to be alien, and they succeed at that, but side-effect is that it is extremely hard to empathize with them. Dalish and Dwarves might be strange at times, but much of their outlook is fundamentally human and somewhat relatable. Qunari, on the other hand, seem like Orvell's a bad dream in fantasy setting. You can try to analyze them, you can try to kill them with fire, what you can't do is relate to them and their values - they're just too alien. At least I think that's the case for most people.I know right? I guess I can understand, as the Qun is kind of their baby, as it's one of the more alien cultures in Thedas, but I find the Avaar more fascinating in general, I suppose partly because they've yet to approach overexposure.
Avvars, on the other hand, are human, with their own mythology, own culture, but their quirks are quirks of human culture not something completely different on every level imaginable. They generally have personal names, at the very least

I sent Sky Watcher's clan to Tevinter. They're strictly Southern Thedas, as far as I am aware. However, it would provide an interesting story to tell. The Avvar that somehow made his or her way up North.

I see. I always did think they were human, but the body model in the game is clearly NOT human so I'm a wee bit confused.

Maaaaan.
I want the Avaar Chieftain as a companion. With him being able to throw goats at people...
...We DO send him to Tevinter, after all. ![]()

Speak for yourself. I made him instruct Lord Abernache in the ways of the Avvar.

Sky Watcher would have been an awesome companion... along with the Avvar who throws the goat.

Nah, I teamed him up with Abernache. Their team name is "Hammer & Petits fours", reshaping Thedas political landscape, one goat at a time.

I really wanted him to be one. I just did it in my current playthrough and had the thought again... just something about big tribal shaman characters that is awesome to me. It'd be awesome to have somebody that just has no social skills on a worldly level but a fair grasp on people, sort of like a barbarian Cole but centered on the mundane. ![]()
