Running

Windows 7 64bit
Geforce 8800 gts
4gig ram
Creative Audigy Sound Blaster

When playing the game the sound effects, and background music are normal volume, but the character voices are super low. I have to turn it up really loud just to hear them. And some times they don't speak at all.

Having the same problem with identical sound card, and using the latest 1.4.92 drivers from Creative Labs.

Running Win 7 32 bit, 2GB RAM, NVidia 2x275GTX SLi

Looks like it's a sound driver issue, but there are no updates as yet.

Fixed it, you have to install Creative Labs ALchemy. There isn't a profile for Mass Effect 2, but if you create a default one, and point it at the application file in the binaries folder of the Mass Effect 2 installation it should work - at least it did for me!

Windows Vista Ultimate 64-Bit
EVGA GTX-260
6 Gig 800Mhz RAM
Intel Quad 2.66Ghz
Onboard sound: RealTek HD Audio

Having same sound issues, normal sound but quiet voices that sound as though they're down the hall, tried configuring sound to stereo but its persisting, game runs great otherwise.

Purchased game at E&B Games, imported my ME1 Character(played through Steam) without any problems.

Updated everything as of yesterday.

I've been buying games through Steam for 4 years now without a single hitch, first game I DON'T buy through Steam? Fail.

I remember the first ME having all sorts of glitches and issues when it first came out for Xbox360, so I'm now thinking Bioware is rushing ME releases?

If you're not using a Creative Labs card then I would suggest you look into finding out about OpenAL. Don't know if that will fix your problem, but the Creative AL fixed mine - could be worth a shot for you.
