Origins.

Then a little ways down the list to Inquisition (I did enjoy Inquisition very much, but oh Origins I love you). Then much farther down to DA2.

However,  if Inquisition would have had an editor/SDK, that would raise it up for me just barely below Origins instead of choking on its dust, and I would probably be waffling back and forth between the two for various reasons.

As it stands, though, I'll still be playing Origins in a few years, because mods have helped it grow and 'keep up'. Inquisition will not fare nearly as well.

Origins wins in every category except exploration.

Inquisition wins in every category except tactical customisation, and would win in that if BW added two extra options to the Behaviours screen.

Then again, they're both great games and, I believe, widely available, so I don't see why we have to decide between them.

Origins wins by a country mile in:

Story

Character development

Build Variety

Armour Variety

Modding

Depth

Replayability

Tactical combat

Inquisition wins with art only and world size, that's it.

Origins and its not even a fair competiton
better and longer story, good sidequests, many choices to make, great companions and an epic finale

Inquisition on the other hand has a terrible bland protgonist, huge lifeless areas, reused and weak villian, short story, 1000 generic fetch quests
at least the companions are awesome

They are about the same for me.

Inquisition would benefit greatly if it had the 5336 gazillion mods I have for Origin (half of these being hair mods).

Though I'm enjoying Inquisition a lot, Dragon age origins has a better plot and offers a better rp experience.

So... it will be origins for me. I'll never forget this journey in Thedas.

Inquisition reminds me a bit of what Disney is doing to Star Wars. They made that kids show Rebels canon. I am getting the same vibe from Inquisition and the DA universe these days. More and more generic. No identity. Feels like a dragon age "skin" rather than a dragon age game.

Oh god I can't stand Rebels, it's a kids show with a star wars paint and I'm no fan of the art style either.

As for Dragon Age, I feel like it's still trying to develop it's own identity  especially in terms of art style. The universe just needs to be explored more so that it becomes more unique and definable. Series like LOTR, Star Wars, and TES have a very clear identity because they had years of time to develop themselves and their universes. With Star Wars Rebels it's easy to see that Disney is trying to make the established SW identity more child-friendly. With DAI, I'm not convinced that they're straying away from Dragon Age because I'm not sure that Bioware has a complete idea of what "Dragon age-y" describes.

However the music definitely became more generic.

LOTR and TES etc have a very clear identity because of the rock solid lore. They feel believable and real. DA falls apart because gameplay, unnessicarily, contradics the lore at every turn. Why even have mages when everyone else can clearly do magic anyway now? When gameplay, story, and the setting\lore are in agreement, you have a damn good product. And you don't get an own identity by trying to copy this and that from other games. You get a hybrid made up of parts from solid franchises, nothing unique.

Yes, sure, I guess I'll just go marry Bioware (fond of hyperboles aren't you)? You know what I dislike? The people who go on and on about how if you like the newer games you're not a "true (or hardcore) fan", and how everything changed when the fire nation attacked with game *insert title here* and nothing will ever be the same. Here's the thing though, Bioware doesn't HAVE to keep making the same type of game over and over. They are free to try out new things, go in other directions and try to create the worlds and settings they want to. As hardware keep getting better they are able to do things they may have wanted to do since the very beginning, but haven't been able to because of limitation.

The only prerequisite for a bioware games is that, guess what, it's made by bioware! The fact that some fans may not like the direction they're going in sucks for them, but that doesn't make the game any less made by bioware. Consumers, on the their side, are free to dislike the new directions they're taking and stop buying the games. People are also free to feel that it's an improvement. Some, and this may come as a shock, actually may enjoy both the old AND the new games at the same time, and are looking forward to seeing where they'll go from here. I do not need to justify Inquisition by comparing it to the older games, DAO is different from DA2 is different from DAI (and let's not even talk about KotoR, JE, BG or NWN). I do not need to "twist" anything to make them look like each other, because I am not "married" to the idea that all games need to be identical for me to enjoy them. I don't see why "this game plays just like this other game" HAS to be a selling point, and if it doesn't everything is ruined.

And yes, to me a well written plot and characters are an important part of a game! This doesn't mean a game without much of a story isn't a game, it just means it's a game that I'm less interested in playing. It may not be an important part of a game to you, but last time I checked your opinion wasn't more important than mine, or anyone else's.

Know how this post of your would make sense? If Bioware said something like this:

"No this game is nothing like Origins, we are taking a new direction, of course our writting is there, eerything we are known for, but combat have different features and in fact play VERY different from both DAO and DA2. Even so, we hope you like what we are doing since for us it is an improvement to the franchise. But it is, unquestionably a big change. We are looking into a combat pace between DAO and DA2 but more action oriented. Also we got rid of most tactics and level up involves only assigning one skill point, but fear not, you can still customize your character with gear, this is a gear oriented game after all"

See... this way I would never have even watched a video from DAI, with this statement game would have died for me, the franchise and Bioware. For me Origins was the minimun acceptable for a RPG. Origins is already very simplified and with very few option, Inquisition is an abortion rotting with dealy radiation. So if they said they were going worse than Origins, even if they said it like it was a good thing I would have just erased them from my life.

The whole problem is that they promised a game for people who like Origins. And contrary to your argument (lol) that there are people who like both, no there is not. I mean, like, yes. But we aren't discussing likes here..Saying there are people who like Origins and Inquisition means absolutely nothing. There are people who like Mario Kart, Tomb Raider, Resident Evil and Inquisition and Origins. So does that mean anything other than the person likes a lot of types of games? NOPE.

And that's the point here, liking Origins and Inquisition says nothing about the game being made for old fans.

Only ONE thing says if it was made for old fans: Is it like the old games? NOPE. A lot of features were removed so it is not for old fans.

If the old fans like it or not make absolutely no difference. It says nothing. A lot of people like different games, and that what Origins and Inquisition are, completely different games.

So what about stop saying there are people who love both as if it meant something?

Now know what means a lot? Origins had stat point to distribute on level up, Inquisiton does not.

Origins didn't have huge maps and jumping, Inquisition does.

Origins had (different) origin stories to play, and various origins from each race to choose, Inquisition does not.

And that's how it goes.

Even the pope may like it, even if the creator of Planescape Torment said Inquisition is the best game ever, it wouldn't say a thing. It is absolutely nothing about liking or disliking and if you loved BG, NWN or DAO. It is about having the same features or not. And the features are very different, so it was not made for people who loved the first game, if it was it would have the same features. You don't please fans of soccer with hockey discs, of course a lot of these fans may like both hockey and soccer but it absolutely does not mean you gave them hockey discs to please their love for soccer, you did so for them to play hockey. Good for them if they like, bad for them if they don't.

I'm going with Inquisition solely for the replay value.

Saying one playthrough they're all pretty near equal but the replay value on Inquisition seems best so it wins.

In my opinion Dragon Age: Origins is superior to Skyrim: Inquisition in every way, I even like the graphics and art style way better, just look at Queen Anora for example, in Dragon Age: Origins she looked like a Scandinavian supermodel, while in Skyrim: Inquisition she looks like a crac**hore from Miami Vice.

Origins.Hands down, I'd be lying if I said I didn't cry when I finished playing it because I was so upset that it was over.

Inquisition had awesome main missions, but the space between them made me feel like I was grinding just to reach them. In Origins, the side quests were enjoyable, in DAI they just fell flat. I cared about the man with the daughter trapped in the Redcliffe Castle in DAO, I really didn't cared about the elf that wanted me to fetch the Golden Halla in DAI.

Origins. No Question. Origins is the best Dragon Age game in my opinion. The best atmosphere, the best characters, the best story, the best protagonist, the best foe, the best character and environment design, the best skills/spells and the best gameplay. I enjoyed Origins DLCs more than other two games to be honest. Especially The Awakening and The Witch Hunt are much more enjoyable than DA2 and DAI for me.

Inquisition is to Origins what Kingom of the Crystal Skull is to Raiders, they are worlds apart in terms of quality.

So yeah, Origins.

Origins, in almost every way.

DA:I would be 100 times better if they would add Origin's AI tactical options. (But the main story plot would still suck of course.)

I like them both equally by now. I was more obsessed with Origins in my initial playthrough, than I was with DA:I though - but that is an impossible feeling to recreate.

DAI has a fun multiplayer and great customization options, but the multiple little vacuums it creates inside itself between each and every story mission, kept sucking the soul out of the main plot. The pacing didn't work for me, and it showed BioWare has much to learn when it comes to guiding the player when they're not forcing them. I want them to.

At the end of the day, we got three very if not fundamentally different games in the same universe, and that's nothing to cry about.

Inquisition is to Origins what Kingom of the Crystal Skull is to Raiders, they are worlds apart in terms of quality.

So yeah, Origins.

To hijack & personally complete this analogy; I'd still rather watch KoCS than most other movies.

One is great, one is bang average.

At least the decline took 20 years for Indiana though.
