Okay so all of the banter in the game [including the banter that was cut but is still in the game and will never trigger]

totals a whopping

devastating

monumental

5 hours and 35 minutes

So lemme get this straight

even if banter wasnt bugged to hell

[4 of my 9 files are hit with the banter bug]

this game which is supposed to run 80 hours minimum to 100 as the mean average

has 1/16th to 1/20th of its length with banter and that not taking away what banter is cut and will never play such as

cole's demon route

that being said to actually exhaust all the banter you'd have to cycle through all of the characters and not for nothing

not all of the characters are interesting enough to be picked up a second time or if you do pick up everyone again

you've already heard this stuff if you use the same characters.

you have 8 companions and 335 minutes of banter

that's an average of 42 minutes of banter per character.

And what if you play the game through with always dragging the same one character along

banter is burned out faster

I don't understand made the idea here was.

if it's suppose to be an 80 hour game

spreading it out, banter  would be at a rate of one instance per 16 minutes

this is supposed to be a fast paced fun adventure RPG

we dont even have traveling BACKGROUND MUSIC to break the silence after combat is over

and these areas are huge and empty with occasional trash mobs and resources to collect

you could replay origins / awakening / da2 twice and still not hear all the banter and they were much shorter games

in da:I if you arent plagued by the banter bug

your party will quickly run out of things to say because of the games length

why was this so over looked?

reason i bring this up is:

i have a 70 hour playthrought where either i just hit the banter bug, 70 hours in, or i've exhausted all banter but i've been switching it up party wise

sure i see people complain banter triggers too little but look at this way

you might have a playtrough were for the last 20 or 30 hours your party is silent unless it's plot line related banter

which is worse?

regardless

there should have been way more than a measly 5 and half hours of banter

Um, I’m pretty sure they calculated it exactly like that.

I’m not sure what numbers you’re using, but I’d peg the average banter length at 30 seconds or less. I actually haven’t listened to the compilation to not spoil them, but I assume they don’t count duplicates (i.e. varric-cass for both), and we actually have 5.5 h of unique banters. Let’s say 30 per banter; that gives us a rough 650 instances of banter.

Average playthrough might be your 80 hours. Extremely generously 2/3, or call it 50 hours, could be exploration.

Spreading out the 650 instances of banter evenly over that would yield banter about every 5 minutes.

Yes, that would require optimal swapping of companions etc. but I think their target was banter about once every 10–15 minutes; easily achievable. Whether you feel that that is enough is another matter.

(Disclaimer: I’m affected by the banter bug to the degree that I stopped my second playthrough and will not play the game again until it’s fixed.)

It's pretty clear from the open world design decisions that the game's not supposed to be "fast-paced".
