Honestly I'd rather see them spend all their development time on the next dragon age from now on rather than a 2 hour DLC or two. I don't need side-stories... only bridging content.

Did you ever play Awakenings? Also a new DA won't be for quite some time, there is Mass Effect coming out first. Also I think a new Star Wars game.

I think we'll probably see some minor content out for first week of March. Something like the Black Emporium, and god I hope that includes a damn storage chest!

Probably 4-5 hours of playable content, that offers a new map location and some things to kill. Maybe also a bunch of new Schematics. My only concern is that my play state is already finished and I only have like $5k gold, so hopefully we also get some way to raise some mad cash to spend. Also, hopefully they integrate it into post finale game states in general.

After that I'm betting they focus on MP for a while, but from what I understand there are like 2 dev groups, 1 for MP and another for SP.

If they don't captialize on the success of DAI with a major expansion (Awakenings level) released by September/October they are fools. A story that continues the Solas/Old gods storyline, and possibly brings back the Hero from DAO could easily sell for $30-40 if it promised atleast 40-50 hours of game play. That's what whole games go for, and BW wouldn't have to spend a dime on developing the game engine or distribution/printing up physical media. Basically you have a bunch of content developers working with a tool set while the programmers gear up for ME4 and DA4...

I rather see them hope on to the next big project. Stop making DLC's seem like a great idea. It's great on paper but it has been so perverted these days.

If DA2s ass reception didn't discourage them why would DAIs ridiculous critical reception do it? This game at least somewhat rehabilitated the brand.

Hope whatever's in the works involves Skyhold. I really want the holes and crap lying around to be cleaned up. Either Solas or the Fade itself are topics I'd like to focus on.

While I would definitely appreciate a story DLC (A Tranquil's Story please! B)), I wouldn't want it at the cost of delaying ME4.

Different teams. If I recall, Lair of the Shadow Broker was released the same day as Witch Hunt.

True. However, that was the case of being both of them DLCs. ME4 would potentially be the starting point of post-Shepard (or pre-Shepard) era of ME & they would probably want to give it higher prority. More promo time & all. DAI has already snatched the RPG of the Year. :P

Just speculation IMHO.

I'd love a siege of Skyhold DLC. Yes, I know it's super magical and all that; but I don't care. What's the point in giving us an epic fortress if it can't be put to the test?

They (Bioware) just announced that they are currently working on some dlc (presumably single player). Can't wait to see what we get.

We don't need MP dlc, frankly the game needs no Multiplayer. What we need is a DLC the size of Awakenings.

Like it or not MP is here to stay so it's going to get MP DLC, not to mention plenty of people enjoy it.

People need to stop worrying about ME4's development. Its so early on they probably aren't even close to when they need a huge team building assets and designing pieces and lighting areas. Do remember DA:I was announced when they had some gameplay made and it still took 2 years to come out. ME4 has been announced when all they have is concept art and assets to show off. so I doubt they need every BioWare studio crunching away at the moment, a year, then yes they will probably need all the man power. now? probably just one studio's worth of people.

Also here is a link to Mark Darrah twitter, confirming dlc is coming, just not soon enough to talk about it.

The game has sold very well being Biowares' most successful launch, so you can expect DLC perhaps even more than originally planned.

I think March:April time for announcement so four to fives months after release seem acceptable. Wait too long and people will move on to the next big game to play.

Only negative feedback has been in the forum in a tiny amount and few articles on gaming websites the general reaction has be great for game overall. I've seen people who don't enjoy the game but don't hate it, only apathetic to the game as whole.

This is kind of what happened to me and DA2. I played it to death and had moved on, I didn't even KNOW that legacy existed until I booted up the Dragon age Keep. I missed it entirely cause it came out when my interest in DA2 had long waned.

Based on their previous release patterns, I predict two or three pieces of single-player, story-based DLC will come out between now and November. First one will probably be in March or April, although I guess it could be as late as June or July. (I'm hoping for March, so I can play it before Pillars of Eternity releases.)

Day one DLC aside, it's not typical for BioWare to release DLC quickly or to talk about it long in advance of its release date. The game has been a critical success and seems to have sold well, so I'm sure they'll want to put out more content.

I agree with this. However, to add, I am curious as to what the DLC will be. Will they continue the storyline with the Wardens and/or Solas?

I'd agree with this. I know in this day and age people are used to hearing and even having DLCs a month after release- but to me all that says is it was content that should have been included in the original game and wasn't. Bioware is one of the few companies I will actually buy dlc from because I don't feel like this is something they do to their customers.

Well:

Dragon Age Origins had 2 (i repeat 2) DLCs that were released at launch day for additional price. One of them featuring Shale companion that has dialogue lines for everything that happens in the "Vanilla" game.

Mass Effect 2 had a day 1 DLC with a companion that was intended to be in the story from the beginning. Also it had an insane amount of "pay me 5 bucks to get a new gun" DLC.

Dragon Age 2 has the very same thing. A day 1 DLC with a main companion.

Mass Effect 3 too, a day 1 DLC with a VERY IMPORTANT  companion, without him you can't understand half of the already messed plot.

Dragon Age Inquisition does not have day 1 DLC: with ME3 they understood they can mlk the cow well with MP microtransaction.

So I'm sorry for you, but Bioware IS THE ONE that's used to do this things to their costumers. I'm still here, I don't like to bash them too much (although i cannot really forgive them for DA2). But when i red your lines my stomach collapsed i couldn't resist it. Unless you were ironic in th first place and i didn't understand.

Mass Effect 2 - Who, Zaeed or Kasumi? If I recall correctly, Zaeed was free and both felt like DLC companions especially as their on-ship dialogue had no cutscenes as oppose to the other crew members' which did. That suggest that the idea and concept of them might have been there from the start but that they were not created on equal-footing with the other companions.

Mass Effect 3 - I would not call Javik a requirement to get the plot. I did not have him as a companion on my first run and while he is a fascinating addition, he does not make the plot any less or more understandable in my opinion then again, it has been a while so you might need to give some examples.

Dragon Age Inquisition - The Day One dlc was likely removed because of the criticisms about Day 1 DLC which existed even back with Origins if I remember correctly. The multiplayer is as likely to be a mandate by EA as anything and some would argue it is a better alternative than Day 1 DLC because then there is no risk a companion was removed from the game to be said Day 1 DLC.

There were articles online yesterday that specifically quoted Mark Darrah, who said that they've just started work on a single player dlc. I imagine that it will be at least a couple of months before they announce when it will be released.

Whether you felt like the addition of Jaavik impacted the plot of ME3 or not, the inclusion of a a living Prothean (a major lore race) made his dlc quite significant to me. I liked that character and used him as a party member very, very often in multiple games.

I concur.  I totally felt like I got my money's worth out of that DLC.

(to Fearsome1) Oh no, I loved the hell out of that snarky bastard. He was among my favorite companions and like I said, he was a fascinating addition. I just disagree with the notion that the plot became any more or any less understandable without him.

(to bsup) Him and the hoodie made paying a bit more worth it.

Just dropping this here...

https://shadowrealms...n-shadow-realms

Shadow Realms has been cancelled and the employees moved to working on DAI and ME4 (and SWTOR)

Then again, anyone who finished DAI's main quest must have been certain that lots of DLC has to be in the pipeline.

I hope they make an original Expansion Pack. The developers waste to many time and lot of money for little DLCs. And yes, also the DA2 DLC were not in the quality of a Dragon Age Awakening or any else of imagine of a correct Expansion Pack.

@BioWAre Devels: please, make a Expension Pack and take one year or more for it.

I see a lot of criticism of Bioware DLCs. One important thing I notice is the cost. Believe it or not the company is not modelers for Dragon Age Nexus. They are a company with a product that they sell to make money. If you have a job you will understand the idea of needing a paycheck. Yes Bioware makes money off its games. That is a good thing because they will be around to make more good games in the future. Day one DLC comes free with preorders. Believe it or not this is a marketing strategy used on many products since the 70's and was not created to ****** you off, nor invented by EA.

I love Bioware games, played them since Bulder's Gate. I have bought all the DLCs and the Expansion packs. I will continue to buy their games as long as I have the ability to play them. The only sore spot for me is the ending of ME3. (But up until the last 10 minutes I loved that game, and I still bought DLCs for ME3)

As to the OP, I would like a snippet of news from the developers as to when a DLC will be available. Summer, Fall, Winter? It don't have to be a spoiler, just a projection.

while i did buy it and did kind of like it....  skyrim's build your own home dlc seemed really really pointless, but then again i played on 360 so i didnt have access to custom homes via mods....  at the very least, at least bioware has 90% kept on track with dlcs tying in well with the story, whether it be characters or new plots
