[Big Magnet]

I checked the little chest beside Cole in Skyhold and there was a hat inside. I thought it was just a copy of his goofy hat... untill he equipped it

Cole's hats are awesome, you're simply jealous.  I'd totally buy that hat and wear if if I happen to run into one like it.  After all, I own an absolutely HUGE pink and yellow straw sombrero.  Which is also awesome.

 

Big hats are awesome.  That's all there is to say on that matter.

All the clipping that hat does makes me sad though. Especially when he's randomly not wearing it in some cutscenes when it wouldn't clip and then he throws it back on whenever the gigantic brim is actually a problem.

My headcanon is that the hat is part of Cole's physical form, but he doesn't quite understand hats. So it's visible, but objects pass straight through the brim.

Funny, yours is brown, mine is black, and that was the first thing i though too, i'm sure its a easter egg.

If I remember some of the party banter involving Cole correctly, hats are brought up relatively frequently.  It's quite possible he doesn't actually understand hats at all, except that "it won't fit there."

Love how they won't make longer hair because of clipping, yet they have hats like this...

I picked up this hat too, but I prefer Cole's original hat.  It suits him well and although I thought it was hideous in my first playthrough, it grew on me and I now ensure that the Hide Helmets function is not on so I can see the hats.  Oh, and those fetching Orlesian masks you pick up later in the game.  Fabulous.

I think Cole has got the best looking Rogue armor in the entire game... actually, the rest of the companions have better looking armor than the Inquisitor... booooo.

I hate most of the armors with that open chest piece and lappels sticking out. Ugh.

 

I always make cole a set of heavy battlemaster armor - on him it's form fitting leather with belts wrapped about it. Looks pretty badass, then add on his assassin hat and BAM! Cole is a bad ass.

Uh, how do you put Cole in heavy armor?  Don't they restrict to warriors?

Silverite removes class restriction for heavy armor and snoufleur skin does the same for medium armor.
