To at the very least give us some information on the PC controls being changed!

What I would love to see:

- The PC controls to be the exact same or similar to Dragon Age Origins/2.

-Tooltips on the power bar.

What would you guys like to see? Will we even be getting a patch for these?

I STILL do not see what everyone wants changed. You want abilities to be on letters? Auto run to be R instead of G? Save to be on V? We can change the keybindings on a PC so make it that way for you.

Yes hold and some abilities need a bit of work but, the controls are fine. Are you all still confusing controls with function? Controls = what button you press. Function = what the button causes the game to do.

Your assumptions are incorrect.

To be more specific the controls I would like are auto attack, right clicking on objects slightly away from you will allow the character to auto run to it, and to make the tactical cam more PC friendly. Those are the main features I want brought back. All that and of course tooltips.

And that is function. Pressing R for attack, fine but you want to press and release, not hold it down. You can right click on objects to interact, that's fine, you want to do it from further away, that's function.

Function does need work. Melee fighters need to run to the nearest enemy if you press an ability key, hold needs improvement, tac came needs to function better. Again, all FUNCTION, not controls. Pressing keys and using mouse buttons is fine - what those do may or may not be fine so FUNCTION, not the actual controls.

I honestly could not care less for the difference. Most people understand what is meant.

I think most people don't care about this triviality.

Personally I would like a full mouse support for movement and not just a mouse cursor.

They might do some fine tuning, but I wouldn't expect PC controls to receive a major overhaul to be identical to Origins/DA2. I doubt if we'll ever get a true auto attack rather than the "hold to attack" thing that I find to be a really odd design choice.

Tooltips on the hotbar would be nice, though.

At the moment I think most of the changes I want now are fixes for the general bugginess of the MP part of the game. I'd actually start playing it a lot more if they fixed some of the issues with it.

In the previous titles it definately helped that the character would walk/run to the targeted object itself, not only in tactical mode.

This includes looting and combat.

If I think how often I clicked next to a ladder, because you have to stand very close and then right click around the body to activate it.

I really want to be able to assign a 'Take All' button.

Combat felt most fluent in DA2, I played a warrior as well and it felt good kicking them around, having good AE attacks. Again, you could just tab to the next target and the character would walk up to it starting auto-attack.

In DA:I I often switch to one of my ranged party member and let the AI control my character, while I pick the enemy's ranged units, stand still, hold a button and click 1/2 occationally. I just cannot do the movement and finger acrobatic with WASD while tryitng to face the enemy and hold the mouse button.

Are you seriously gonna argue semantics after what they did to "function and control" in this game? Even with gamepad tactical camera still sucks, and i am not even gonna comment on that 8 slot limitation. Sacrificing flexibility so it would look cool how they implemented all into top keyboard row, yeah..that's how games should be made.

Yes, I will argue semantics because I do not want the controls changed. I would like to see improvements to some of the functions of those controls but, I do not want to loose the ability to map the keys as I see fit nor, have ability use moved to the number pad only or something like that. So yes semantics matter.

That would be crippling to game, and although Bioware has shown some seriously poor judgement i doubt they would pull something like that, no one, ever, asked for, hey dude please restrict me, after you restricted me with only 8 powers, could you please restrict me some more with not allowing me to customizing controls, punish me, please.
I know that to be Bioware fan in last few years, you need to be a a little of a masochist, but i doubt that anyone had gone that far.

There are tooltips.  They tell you the name of the skill and what hotkey it is on.

I also want the ability to zoom in while in combat, I hate the fact that it zooms out automatically and there's nothing you can do about it. Is this possible for someone to mod?

I really want functional tooltips, especially tooltips that (like DA2 I think) calculate ability damage for me.

Auto-run will absolutely not happen because 1) we can already do it in tactical camera and 2) it's such an unmitigated disaster at any real distance because of the pathfinding AI that they'd have to basically re-design pathfinding to make it work.

I wouldn't say absolutely unless I was working with Bioware, I'm hopeful for it but also do not expect it. I do however, expect an auto attack!

Oh i wish OP, i feel your pain, these controls are hideous, what we need is...

  1. A Right mouse click and they go to pick up loot.
  2. Right click a target and they attack it without being in tactical combat
  3. Auto attacking without going into tactical combat.
  4. Characters actually following the targets.
  5. Hold down both mouse buttons and our characters walk/run.
  6. Shift + A to send all characters to a certain spot.
  7. Remove Tactical Combat
  8. Add attributes back in.

Basically Dragon Age 2 combat..

Begging? OMG is this for real? Bioware probably laughing so hard at PC gamers talking about how good they are lying at the face of PC gamers. On a serious note, how many months had passed? They just don't give a freaking care at least that's what i see it. Controllers are their favorites.
