One thing that would've helped me immensely is that knowing that the "Hold Position" command in the radial is utterly useless. If you want your companions to really hold position then go to the tac. cam, press X to select a spot to move and then tap X again to hold position. That character will not move unless you command them to, when a battle is over, or if the character your controlling strays waaaay too far. Nothing's made me rage soooo damn hard than to see your squishy mage or squishy archer stupidly position themselves near an enemy in point blank range.
What are some things you wish you knew when you first started playing?

Dispel is probably the best spell in the game
wraiths don't seem to pop their barrier when being attacked by magic damage
If you can't use a potion due to being disabled for some reason, just open the tactical cam and you you can give the potion command immediately
Some quest/requisition items get placed in your valuables tab, so be careful about selling them
If you ever get stunned, drinking a potion will break the stun
There is no falling damage in skyhold
You don't actually need a staff with an opposite damage type to take down the wall barriers. The text says you do, but you can take down a fire barrier with a fire staff just fine.
If you run away from a fight, the enemy's health doesn't seem to regenerate
Never leave home without at least a couple respec amulets, especially early in the game where a particular elemental resistance can almost render a character useless

And the Hold command in Tac-Cam generally lasts much longer than Action mode, even without setting each individually.

That I should probably avoid the giant grove in the Emerald Graves when I'm only level 12. I noped my way on out of there real fast.
I agree on the dispel. I never took it with me on my first run, but now it's a must for all mages when we go rift hunting.

If you see the Berserker effect on weaponry, Sell! Sell! Sell!
I'd amend this to "any item". That effect is not only near pointless but totally suicidal as currently implemented.

Actually, You need to change "Behave" option, setting all character to follow themselves then the "hold" command should work.

But I still wonder how to disable auto attack, every time my archer auto attack immediately after stealth, this annoying behave make stealth totally useless.

Return to Action mode, and stop pressing the fire key; should work.

Nothing, really.
My first PT is always for me discover and figure things out and experiment - and I prefer to do it by myself.
It can be a bit frustrating at times, but also extremely gratifying. It also fits very well with me being total spoilerphobe
