Oh god, just not something like Deep Roads in DAO, it was after the Fade the most boring part of the game (some thaigs were ok though). More of them wouldn't certainly hurt. Although I found out there was quite enough of them in the entire game, but usually the reward was completely useless and lackluster and they weren't challenging at all (except the puzzle in Exalted Plains).

Not just dungeons, cities too. This game has more wilderness than far cry.
And man, the one lone side dungeon that looked like it was going to be interesting, the temple in "God of secrets", was just so, so unrewarding.
A despair demon with extra hit points and 7 annoyingly hidden magic sigils on the walls. Yay.
No dialogue, no cut scenes. By far the most disappointing thing in the game for me.

I wouldn't mind larger scale dungeons IF there was camp spots with your party along the way and a chance for more party conversation / dialogue and what not to break up the tediousness of hours of dungeon crawling. Otherwise the dungeons in Origins got a bit old and boring other then some parts of them that actually had a bit of story to it.

Well, they had to show off all this open-worldness, right?...
I actually liked Deep Roads in DAO. I wouldn't mind exploring some more. Maybe Ruck is still alive?
Edit: and no, I'm not trolling
But I admit I always use "Skip the Fade" mod... ![]()

I tweeted before the game launched about how much I loved the Deep Roads in DAO - how big it was...and hoping we would see more of that in DAI.
If I recall, Mark Darrah himself then replied, saying it will be much bigger in DAI. I thought he was referring to the Deep Roads, or a similar dungeon structure.
But as it turned out, it was just another default reply about how big the game areas would be in general.
I am sorely disappointed that we didn't see much of the Deep Roads. Valammar seemed promising, but it was just a tease.
Also no towns and villages in this big-ass world? Pretty lame.

To each their own. I personally like the deep roads and the circle tower and still do not understand all the rage.
Same. I actually still enjoy the Fade quite a bit because of the shapeshifting. And the nightmares of the different companions.

The problem with going into the Deep Roads all the time is having a good reason to go down there in the first place. In DA:O, the only reason the Warden went down there was to run errands for Harrowmont or Bhelen, an extra trip to help Bhelen trick some dwarven noble into thinking that Harrowmont was cheating him, and the other to find that crazy Paragon, and then there's Shale's companion quest. In DA2, it was simply the expedition and then tracking the blighted Carta dwarves to Corypheus' prison. With that done, what else would there be for the Inquisitor? I get that people want to go exploring down there and face legions of darkspawn, but unless Corypheus has a lair down there (which doesn't make sense given his allies) what would we be doing?
Also, technically there are two villages in the game, though admittedly not the liveliest.

Yeah, those nightmares are funny and the Skip the fade mode lets you play them
the shapeshifting itself was actually pretty fun as well, but all that tedious backtracking...

Well, if a were my Warden, and if I were searching for a cure to the Calling, that's where I would go

Well, I for one was kind of expecting a dwarven thaig or even a city, for example Kal-Sharok
(fingers crossed for a possible and awesome DLC)

Actually, the Circle Tower and the Deep Roads are my favourite parts of DAO.Nice troll friend
Next you'll say the Circle tower fade section was the most fun you ever had
But I think the Deep Roads should have been longer and less densely populated. To provide a sense of scale, there should have been great long stretches of nothing. Like the trench run on Ilos (which I always did on foot).

Ummmm....all the wardens are hearing the Calling...plenty of opportunity for the Deep Roads, if you ask me!
Nah, I think the entire plot for DAI was very poorly written. so many wasted opportunities...

Same here. At least the Deep Roads. When I played the game for the first time, that area rocked. Loved every minute.

The Wardens are hearing the Calling but there is no mass exodus to the Deep Roads. That would be a reason to go. The wardens are gathering in the Western Approach because that is where the venatori mage wishes to start building the demon army. . So there is no reason to do to the Deep Roads. Corypheus is not in the Deep Roads so no reason to go there.

That is my point. The story telling falls short of the opportunity to have the Deep Roads.
(I'm starting to feel like I'm wasting my time here...)
